Yesterday’s storm caused significant flooding in parts of Malta, as torrential rains and strong winds overwhelmed drainage systems. Several areas reported flooded streets, particularly in Valletta and other low-lying regions, with vehicles stranded and traffic disruptions. The stormy conditions, accompanied by thunder, continued into the evening, leading to hazardous travel conditions.
Today, the weather remains unsettled, with continued rain expected throughout the day. The wind, which is currently moderate at Force 5, will decrease later, turning light by evening, but conditions will remain unpleasant, especially with the possibility of more rainfall. Sea conditions are still rough, though the waves will gradually decrease.
Temperatures will reach a high of 16°C, with lows dropping to 8°C tonight, making for a chilly evening. The wind will shift from the southeast to the northwest later, with a moderate breeze expected. Residents are advised to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in flood-prone areas.
