Welcoming August with some HEAT for Maltese Music Monday

Welcoming August with some HEAT for Maltese Music Monday
Aug 2 2021 Share

August sure is hot but the only thing that may be hotter is our local artists’ long list of releases ranging from EDM to hip-hop to pop, funk, blues, and everything in between. Summer is the home of a whole lot of memorable bangers and these Maltese artists are looking to add some to their repertoire. To top it all off, most of these track have gorgeous music videos to accompany them brought to you from some of Malta’s finest local talent, so sit back, relax and enjoy our list of BANGIN’ MALTESE TRACKS.

215 Collective

Kicking off this week’s Malta Music Monday is a double treat by the 215 Collective. Caro’s ‘On The Outside’ brings his classic solemn rhythm whereas Eddie Fresco returns with his raw, confrontational style in ‘Splitting 10’s’.

With Yung Simmie spitting verses alongside Fresco, Malta’s Hip Hop scene keeps growing, and these two are the prime example!

Maxine Pace

Maxine returns with 6 new tracks for her new EP ‘Skin Deep’, and her voice is mesmerising us throughout every single track. The singer balances pop and ballads seamlessly, as she takes us on a journey through sound and experience.

Maria Cini

Maria Cini’s new track is called ‘Not Enough’, and its super appropriate, because we always want more from her! The track builds up perfectly as it weaves in Cini’s masterful use of the violin she is iconically known for. This is a perfect move-along track we can’t get enough of!

Kyle George

We always welcome new tracks by Kyle George’s powerful vocals and feel good music. ‘Do You Right’ delivers in every way as Kyle George reminds us exactly why he became such an X-Factor Malta fan favourite.

Ryan Paul

One of Malta’s EDM stalwarts Ryan Paul returns with a collaboration with local singer Rachel Lowell for a radio-ready banger which maintains Ryan’s crisp electronic dance production.

If this track taught us anything, is that we want to see more collaborations coming out of Malta’s electronic dance scene because we’ve got this one stuck on repeat!

Melusine/KAM

Waiting for Melusine’s ‘Patience’ seriously paid off as her collaboration with KAM is truly captivating. Capturing a vintage feel through both sound and film, Melusine’s voice brings pure bliss to listeners. Combine that with Insynk Collective’s KAM and you have a recipe for an absolute jam.

Where It’s ATT

Where It’s ATT make their comeback with ‘Pull Up’, an absolute club banger. We can’t help but reminisce about the days we could enjoy such tracks in crowds together, but ‘Pull Up’ will make all listeners stand up and groove wherever they are as the soundscape is unrelentingly exciting.

Ben Bailey

Ben Bailey’s ‘Lately’ is the summer track we needed. It’s the perfect blend of chill and groove – head bobbing and foot tapping just cannot be avoided as Bailey plays his guitar in a pool in his equally peculiar music video.

Bail granted to police officer accused of sexual assault

Bail granted to police officer accused of sexual assault
Aug 2 2021 Share

40-year-old suspended police officer Glen Carabott has been granted bail this morning after having been detained on rape charges since April. With a decree handed down by Criminal Court, Mr Justice Aaron Bugeja released the officer against a €5,000 deposit and a €5,000 personal guarantee. Carabott must also observe a curfew whilst being prohibited from bothering or molesting the alleged victim.

Previous bail requests had been denied after the court cited a risk of Carabott tampering with the evidence. The risk was deemed mitigated by the court securing the testimony, via video link of the victim in the last sitting on May 14th 2021. Suspended from his duties, Carabott was charged with rape, non-consensual sexual acts, recording the encounter, sexual harassment and committing a crime he was bound by his duty to prevent.

Carabott was allegedly dispatched to the victim’s residence to investigate a burglary report but this instead resulted in the rape of the woman. The court declared in a later sitting that sufficient evidence was provided to place hum under an indictment bill.

Four children taken on a shoplifting spree by unemployed father
Aug 2 2021 Share

A 38-year-old unemployed father took four of his children on a shoplifting spree on Sunday, ending up on probation after admitting to his crime. The man from Qormi is an alleged father of 7 children, taking four of his children, aged 5, 8, 9 and 11, to rob a San Gwann household and toy store around 10 am last Sunday. CCTV confirmed police suspicions, with prosecuting inspector Matthew Grech explaining the case.

Police were deployed to stop the suspect, with the children being entrusted in the mother’s care. The father revealed how the pandemic rendered him jobless, ‘forcing’ him to steal electronic equipment and toys. He was also charged with failing to properly care for his four minor children as he registered a guilty plea. He was placed under a 3-year probation order, with the court being informed that social workers will be following up on the children’s well-being.
