Valletta mayor condemns rubbish left in city centre after feast

Aug 8 2022 Share

Valletta mayor Alfred Zammit took to Facebook to condemn the person or people who left a rubbish dump in the city centre after the massive festivities the city celebrated this past week.

The feast of Saint Dominic, one of the two feasts that Valletta celebrates, took place last Sunday and it was reportedly a huge success being the first proper feast they could hold since Covid-19.

In his post, Zammit said that a person with no respect left this massive dump in the city centre. He also criticised all those who instead of helping out took the opportunity to attack the Labour council and, according to him, damage the capital city even more.

He confirmed that the council, with the help of the cleaning department, took care of the issue and that they will partner up with the police department to try and find who was responsible for the unsanitary act.

To end the post he appealed to every Valletta citizen to further help out to continue making and keeping Valletta cleaner.

As the new Lord of the Rings series ‘The Rings of Power’ is set for an Amazon September premiere, a Maltese makeup artist’s take on one of the characters took social media by storm.

Henry Galea, known for his TikTok and Instagram videos bringing characters to life, was asked by Prime Video’s team to create one of the iconic designs for the malicious race of orcs in the series.

Galea’s talent was picked up whilst he was involved with the ACM Awards in Las Vegas. They promptly urged him not to post any Rings of Power related content before they reached out to him to ask him to create one of the many designs.

After some tweaking and a lot of creative work, Galea’s design was released to the world and promptly featured on posters shown worldwide. Following strict guidelines, Galea had came up with a design for what is the next massive instalment in the J.R.R Tolkien adaptations.

Amazon bought the TV rights for The Lord of the Rings for around $250 million in 2017, committing to a five season worth at least $1 billion. This makes it the most expensive television series ever made.
