A 12-year old girl has become a public hero recently after she performed a passionate speech against the recent US abortion ban. The highlight of her speech for many was when she furiously asked the hearing “Does my life not matter to you?”
This hearing in West Virginia came after the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the Roe v Wade ruling.
In the hearing many activists, religious personnel, citizens and medical professionals were present to showcase their opinion on the contentious subject and expressing their concerns about abortion policies currently under consideration for the state.
The girl who has now made the rounds on social media is 12-year old Addison Gardner from Buffalo Middle School in Kenova. She told the hearing
“If a man decides that I’m an object, and does unspeakable, tragic things to me, am I, a child, supposed to carry and birth another child? Am I to put my body through the physical trauma of pregnancy? Am I to suffer the mental implications? A child who had no say in what was being done with my body? ”
“Some here say they are pro-life. What about my life? Does my life not matter to you?”
