Walking into a press conference on Monday, Portugal striker Cristiano Ronaldo decided to remove Coca-Cola bottles placed in front of him. He promptly lifted up a water bottle, urging everyone to drink water instead of the soft drink. The 36-year-old has been quite open about his dislike for junk food, confirming that he is even tough on his son when he eats crisps and drinks such drinks.

Many were baffled by Ronaldo removing the drinks, including coach Fernando Santos. The incident occurred ahead of Portugal’s opening defence in the UEFA Euro Championships against Hungary on Tuesday night.

Maltese football star Haley Bugeja continues to make waves in the international female football scene as she receives the U.S. Sassuolo goal of the season. Fans of the star voted for her goal against Napoli as the most beautiful goal in the Serie, and the footage is clear indication why!

Haley has already been voted the best youth Serie A 2020/21 player as well as Sassuolo’s top player. But the achievements do not seem to be stopping there as the athlete continues to earn title after title.

There are also reports of a contract for Bugeja between Sassuolo and Juventus reaching advanced stages. The future is immensely bright for the 17-year-old wonder kid. Malta couldn’t be more proud!

557 fines issued for COVID-19 regulation breaches

Covid19 Malta reported that a total of 557 fines were issued in the past week (7th June to 13th June). A total of 5000 inspections were carried out on various establishments. The easing of measures did not mean the lack of enforcement as 14 establishments were found to be breaking COVID-19 regulations and were thus fined.

2 other fines were issued in relation to illegal mass gatherings, with 3 people found to be breaching quarantine. 538 individuals were not abiding by the mask wearing health restriction. All this amounted up to the 557 fines issued throughout the week.

New and improved Footloose set for reopening on Wednesday

One of Paceville’s oldest clubs, Footloose Fun Bar, closed its doors for refurbishment for the past few months. But now its ready for its grand reopening next Wednesday, having teased lovers of the club all throughout its recreation process. The refurbishment will be revitalising the Paceville experience after several months awaiting a return to club and bars following the pandemic.

 

 

 

 

 

The new design includes everything from popping logos, the iconic King and Queen crowns of Footloose and a huge expansion of the bar. We just cannot wait for its grand reopening this Wednesday and we hope you are looking forward to it as well!
