WATCH: Argentina bus parade suspended after fan gets injured jumping off bridge

Terrifying scenes took place in Argentina on Tuesday after a jubilant fan sustained major injuries after he jumped off a bridge onto the players’ moving bus.

The parade has since been suspended with concerns for the players’ safety, with Messi and his teammates having to be escorted via helicopter as they continue their tour of Buenos Aires.

During the incident, fans appealed to the those involved to not jump, with the last supporter failing to stick the landing and falling onto the street.

He was then escorted via stretcher, where he was still seen raising his arms in rejoice over Argentina’s World Cup win.

Argentina players took helicopter away from Buenos Aries due to mega crowd

Lionel Messi and his fellow Argentinian team-mates left the Tuesday open-top bus run via a helicopter due the oversized crowd which showed up in Buenos Aires to celebrate the World Cup victory.

The football squad returned to their homeland after beating France in Qatar and received a very warm welcome. They were greeted by hundreds of thousands of enthusiastic fans at the airport.

Footage emerged of Messi exiting the plane holding the World Cup trophy in hand and went on to meet some of his supporters. The Argentine government had announced a public holiday to celebrate the victory, leading to a massive crowd taking to the streets to celebrate.

The footballers made their way to an open-top bus after touching down in Buenos Aires to show off their recent victory prize. As many as four million people are believed to have turned out to greet them, which forced the bus to be re-routed with roads and motorways.

However, this was not enough and this prompted a helicopter exit for the players. This cut off the journey which was meant to end at the Obelisco, the national monument of the city.

Spain could get Europe’s first ever paid menstrual leave

A new bill which introduces menstrual leave for women suffering from painful periods as well as stronger access to abortion in public hospitals has just been adopted by Spanish lawmakers.

With 190 votes in favour, 154 against and 5 abstentions, the bill will now be going to the senate after it was adopted by deputies in the lower house of the Spanish parliament on its first reading.

Spain’s Minister of Equality Irene Montero said that this legislature is a legislature of feminist conquests. ‘We recognise menstrual health as part of the right to health and we fight stigma and silence.

The length of the sick leave that doctors will be able to grant to women suffering from painful periods has not yet been specified in the bill.

Nonetheless, this will make Spain the first European country, and one of the very few in the world, to adopt such a bill. It will be following in the footsteps of the likes of Japan, Indonesia and Zambia.

Increased access to abortion in public hospitals is also one of the key measures in the legislation. Less than 15% of abortions performed in the country take place in such institutions due to conscientious objections by doctors.

Abortion was decriminalised in Spain in 1985 and then legalised in 2010. Apart from this, the bill provides reinforcement of sex education in schools as well as the free distribution of contraceptives and menstrual hygiene products in high school.
