WATCH: Adrian Delia gives his opinion on political speculation and surveys

Feb 21 2022 Share

During Malta Daily’s latest episode of ‘The Interview with Fabian Demicoli’, former PN leader and current MP Adrian Delia gave his two cents on political speculation, stating that the premise of such speculation and the subsequent surveys are absolutely nonsensical.

Delia mentioned the 2013 & 2017 elections, stating that while a Labour win seemed obvious in 2013, the corruption and scandals would have made one think that Labour’s vote-margin would decrease, resulting in a larger vote margin and a record-breaking Labour win. The MP stated that he prefers dedicating time everyday to leading his own personal political campaign and that of his party.

Prime Minister Robert Abela addressed and played down criticism by predecessor Joseph Muscat that some of his confidantes are too easily impressed by Facebook posts.

Speaking during a press conference yesterday evening, Abela was asked by Lovin Malta, who also held the interview with Muscat. ‘Everyone who works with me and who I consult safeguards the general interests of society and listen to everyone’ said Abela.

During a Lovin Malta interview, Muscat had said that he thinks there are some people, very few people, who don’t appreciate the level of commitment and energy and the amount of work it took to bring so many people together.’

Muscat described them as well-intentioned and not aiming to break up the movement. ‘However, they think that it’s only natural that PL is in government and they don’t rumba, or probably weren’t even there, when we spent all those years in the wilderness of Opposition.’

Muscat did not reveal who these individuals are, refusing to confirm or deny whether any of them work at Castille. He did suggest that these people may have had a hand in government U-turns when it came to handling the COVID-19 pandemic through measures.

The nationalist party leader made his promise during the official electoral campaign, speaking to supporters in front of his headquarters as they carried placards with the slogan ‘Miegħek għal Malta’.

Grech said that the Labour Party thought it would find the PN unprepared but said that his party was ready and prepared for an election. ‘Not only did the government not create new economic sectors, it also jeopardised those crated by previous PN governments, such as financial, gaming and maritime, due to grey listing and corruption.’

With a political activity planned for Valletta on Monday at 6pm, Grech said that his party prepared a positive campaign which will bring hope to all. ‘A campaign in which you will be the protagonist’ said Grech.
