WATCH: Acts of Kindness: Beating the heat with FREE ICE-CREAM

WATCH: Acts of Kindness: Beating the heat with FREE ICE-CREAM

Beyond the myriad of benefits of living on this gorgeous Mediterranean island, one of the occasional drawbacks is that the scorching summer heat reaches record-high levels and the country literally becomes too hot to handle. Thankfully, this week, Malta Daily has set out on a mission to spread kindness and good vibes (and loads of other goodies!) across the island.

After weeks upon weeks of fight videos circulating on social media, we thought it was about time that everyone chills out, which is why Andrew and the team took to Sliema’s beaches out some delicious ice-creams provided by one of our partners Sammontana.

Receiving a free ice-cream is always a plus, but receiving it on the beach on a hot Maltese summer’s day is more than enough to incentivise someone to spread the kindness. So take that message home; understand that any single one of us may be going through a tough day, week or period and it only takes a little effort and enthusiasm to make their days better.

Next time you’re having a bad day, pay it forward and spread the kindness in the best way you can. You never know, someone might approach you with an act of kindness of their own.

Sammontana, a well-established brand in Malta offering authentic Italian Ice cream, known for their superior quality and vast range of products that cater for any individuals. Delivering smiles to those passing by!

Acts of Kindness: A week of free ice-cream, salads, taxi rides and petrol vouchers
Jul 24 2021 Share

Over the past week, Malta Daily set out on a unique journey to instil some happiness across the island. Whether it stemmed from the pandemic-induced stress, the scorching hot weather or anything else, it seemed as if the entire nation was under immense stress and we’ve been seeing street fights and heated online arguments break out almost every single day.

That’s why over the past few days, Malta Daily teamed up with some amazing local brands and took to the streets to give out some free goodies in an attempt to make their days a little bit better through random acts of kindness. In the series of videos, we gave out free petrol vouchers from Enemed, free ice-cream from Sammontana, salads from Salad Box and free taxi rides thanks to Ryde and one could clearly see how such a random act of kindness puts a smile on people’s face.

Acts of Kindness. 💛

Throughout the entirety of this week, the point of the whole exercise was to encourage residents of the Maltese islands to utilise a little bit of their time and energy to conduct a random act of kindness. No matter how little it may be, one small act such as this may serve as inspiration and (hopefully) create a positive chain of kind acts.

A theory which connects all Pixar movies

A theory which connects all Pixar movies
Jul 24 2021 Share

What would you think if you heard that all Pixar movies are connected in one big timeline in the same universe? Published in a 2015 book of the same name, The Pixar Theory attempts to connect all Pixar films into one big universe which features time travel, talking animals and evil robots. It has been in circulation for quite some while, but it repeatedly gets updated as more films come out.

The theory pitches humans, animals and machines all against each other. It starts with the more recent instalment ‘The Good Dinosaur’, in which the meteorite destined to hit Earth completely misses it. Dinosaurs become intelligent – using farming, developing language and even co-existing with primitive humans.

This explains why, in The Pixar universe, many animals are immensely intelligent. With rats having a passion for cooking, octopi driving vans and dogs having their thoughts translated through gadgets, the animal kingdom takes a step back to humanity however.

As this happens, machines develop more and more advanced technology. And these inanimate objects develop sentience – all because of human emotion. Toy Story shows us how toys rely on humans to survive, with Toy Story 4 introducing Forky, who gains sentience after he is created.

The world is however being slowly destroyed through pollution. We see this culminate in Wall-E. Humans are forced to leave Earth, with robots taking over. Cars, in fact, retain the personalities of their previous owners and rule for a brief time. Humans eventually return, but due to the pollution, the theory suggests, they evolve…

This brings us to Monsters Inc. Yep, the monsters in the film are just mutated humans (according to the theory at least). The monsters also need human emotion to survive and build portals back in time to scare, and later cheer up, children. This brings us to Boo.

Remember that witch from Brave? The theory suggests that the witch is Boo herself, still obsessed with Sully and wanting to travel in time to meet him. In fact, the witch is quite obsessed with bear-like creatures and has a knack for opening doors into different dimensions.

If this theory seems too far fetched for you, well you’re not the only one. But Pixar theorists have worked out so many details, including every single Pixar film, to fit this narrative. And it all sounds at least mildly compelling. And every time a new film comes out to contradict the theory (think Onward), the theorists just see it as an opportunity to make it all work!

Dubai opens world’s highest infinity pool ‘Address Beach Resort’

Dubai opens world’s highest infinity pool ‘Address Beach Resort’
Jul 24 2021 Share

Named in March as the world’s tallest infinity pool inside a building, Dubai’s new resort lets you swim 1,000 feet above sea level. Titled Address Beach Resort is a whopping 293.906 meters high, making it nine-tenths as tall as the Eiffel Tower. It is also twice as long as an Olympic-sized pool at 94.84 meters in length and 16.5 meters in width.

Despite being as impressive as it is, the pool isn’t the only Guiness World Record held by the resort. The skybridge, containing luxury apartments, is at 294.36 meters – making it the world’s highest occupied skybridge floor. A striking architectural addition to the Jumeirah skyline is the beachfront property called the Jumeirah Gate which was opened in December 2020.

Deputy CEO of Al Ain Holding Federico Rota stated that he and his company are proud to be breaking two Guiness World Record titles with the pool’s opening. The state-of-the-art construction and groundbreaking amenities set new luxury lifestyle standards internationally.
