Vouchers for English learning tourists in Malta

Tourism and Consumer Protection Minister Clayton Bartolo announced today that tourists who come to Malta to learn English will be receiving specific yellow-coloured vouchers for their stay in Malta. He announced this today along with Economy and Industry Minister Silvio Schembri and explained that an investment of €1 million in vouchers for those who wish to learn the language in Malta.

These vouchers will be available to spend in restaurants, accommodations and English schools themselves. Tourists will be receiving €10 vouchers for every night spent on Maltese shores – starting from a minimum of 15 nights to a maximum of 30. For those who spend 15 nights in Malta, they will be receiving €150, with those who spend up to 30 nights receiving €300 worth of vouchers.

2 COVID-19 cases registered with 4 recoveries

Malta has registered 2 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 2,545 swab tests, while 4 patients have recovered. No deaths were registered in the past 24 hours. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

As of Friday 4th June 2021, 541,178 vaccine doses were administered of which 324,295 were 1st doses. 226,341 people are currently fully vaccinated.

To date, Malta has registered 30,559 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 30,066 have recovered, 419 died and 74 are still active.

Sun and heat to hit Malta for upcoming long weekend

With Sette Giugno extended this upcoming weekend into Monday, the days are set to be receiving nothing but heat and sunlight. Favourable weather is seemingly evident starting Friday going into Monday, with the first two days being sunny and the latter with fair weather.

Temperatures are only set to increase as the days go by, reaching 31°C by Monday to kick off another week. Summer lovers are sure to enjoy what’s in store this weekend as the heat only draws people towards time on the island’s mesmerising beaches.

UV is set to increase to 11, so ensure that you’ve packed enough sun cream should you be heading towards the sea. COVID-10 regulations are also still in place, so make sure to bask in the beautiful weather safely.

Malta’s population to verge on 700,000 by 2050

Malta’s population is expected to reach a whopping 668,000 by the year 2050, making the island the EU state with the largest population growth. This close to 700,000 digit is expected to rack up in just under 30 years, giving Malta a 34% jump from 2019. Malta’s population was predicted to reach only 508,000 by the same year of 2050. Malta is followed by Ireland which, according to Eurostat, has a prediction of 29% growth, and Sweden at 25%.

Malta’s population surpassed the 508,000 digit prediction by 2019, hitting 514,000 and shooting the island into first spot for EU population growth during that year. The huge population jump was made from 493,000 during 2018.
