On Saturday, the United Kingdom registered its highest number of new COVID-19 cases since February amid the National Health Service’s current ‘Grab a Jab’ campaign to drive up vaccination numbers.

Figures published by the government highlighted that 18,270 individuals tested positive for COVID-19 in the UK, being the highest daily case rate since 5 February, with around 100,000 having tested positive over the past week.

Most of the new cases have been attributed to the entry of the delta variant into the UK, with most cases being amongst younger citizens who have yet to receive their vaccine.
