The adverts promote Malta as a scenic destination which, ahead of this upcoming summer, will not only potentially attract newcomers to the island but also trigger some sweet nostalgia for the large Maltese population living in Australia.

People getting on and off the metro will get a glimpse as to what awaits them in the middle of the Mediterranean – an island with beaches, rich cultural heritage and lots of sun-soaked activities.

March 2025 Was Europe’s Hottest By ‘Significant Margin’

March 2025 Was Europe's Hottest By 'Significant Margin'
Apr 8 2025 Share

Europe experienced its hottest March on record by a significant margin, according to the Copernicus Climate Change Service, with the continent facing extreme and contrasting rainfall patterns.

March 2024 was 0.26°C hotter than the previous European record set in 2014, with some regions seeing their wettest or driest March in decades. Malta, for instance, recorded more rain than usual.

Globally, it was the second-warmest March ever, continuing a streak of record-breaking heat that began in July 2023. Since then, nearly every month has been at least 1.5°C warmer than pre-industrial levels.

March stood at 1.6°C above that baseline, a level scientists describe as “remarkable” and consistent with human-driven climate change.

The rising temperatures have intensified extreme weather events, such as floods, droughts, and heatwaves. In March, climate change fuelled a deadly heatwave in Central Asia and contributed to severe rains that killed 16 in Argentina.

While a cooling La Niña phase was expected to ease global heat after the El Niño peak in early 2024, temperatures remain unusually high. This has prompted scientific debate about additional warming factors.

Climate records from Copernicus, dating to 1940 and supported by long-term data like ice cores and tree rings, suggest Earth is currently experiencing its warmest period in over 125,000 years.

“Il-kelma grazzi mhux biżżejjed” -Jamie Cardona

“Il-kelma grazzi mhux biżżejjed” -Jamie Cardona

Jamie Cardona, winner of the 5th edition of Mużika Mużika, took to social media to share an emotional message reflecting on his victory. The singer-songwriter opened up about the whirlwind of emotions he felt after the show, describing it as both joyful and overwhelming.

“Last week, I was extremely anxious. Even though I celebrated as much as I could, I had a strange unrest I’d never felt before,” he wrote. While grateful, he admitted struggling to process the outpouring of love and support: “I’ve never received this much love in my life. I still can’t believe it’s real.”

Jamie said the win felt bigger than just him — a shared moment with his team, family, friends, and the many strangers who cheered him on. “So many people celebrated with me — too many to count. And the thought that haunts me is this: how are there so many people capable of showing this much love?”

He thanked his closest collaborators, Aleandro and Shaun, calling them “geniuses,” and expressed gratitude to producer Chris Gatt, Joe Roscoe, and Gary Bugeja, the mastermind behind the song’s visual direction. Jamie also gave a heartfelt shout-out to the entire creative team behind “Stajna Konna Aħna,” including stylists, photographers, and Denise Mulholland, whose belief in him meant the world.

Closing his message, Jamie addressed his supporters directly: “If I’ve had any kind of success, it’s thanks to all of you. The word ‘thank you’ is not enough.” He ended with: “Inħobbkom x.”
