The news of Ramiro Mallia’s passing shocked all of Malta after the youth sadly passed away due to a leakage in a heater. As many have discovered by now, Ramiro was a cancer survivor at a very young age and has repeatedly supported Puttinu Cares for their help to people suffering with cancer.

A video published to Facebook on 11th September 2019 of Ramiro calling the public to donate to Puttinu is now going viral. In it, Ramiro talks about how distressing the process of discovering a loved one is diagnosed with something as horrible as cancer. In calling for people to help Puttinu Cares who in turn help hundreds of people, the video captures exactly how much of a genuine and caring person Ramiro was. Malta has lost a very thoughtful and compassionate soul indeed. RIP Ramiro.

A spokesperson for the Malta Police Force has stated that authorities can in fact enter residences and inspect whether the COVID-19 measures are being adhered to. One of the new measures issued for COVID-19 mitigation states that no more than two households can be in one residence at a time and the enforcement of this measure allows for police to enter houses if investigation is required.

The spokesperson stated that the Health Superintendent gave the permission to the authorities on behalf of public safety law. Superintendent Charmaine Gauci pointed out last Friday that 68 fines were given the week before after residences were found to have had guests from multiple households.

Last night, the city of Barcelona hosted a 5000-strong rock concert after attendees passed a same-day COVID-19 screening in what was the biggest pandemic-era event in Europe for a year.

Thousands of fans occupied the Palau Santi Jordi arena to watch indie band ‘Love of Lesbian’ for an experimental trial by the Spanish health authorities.

Despite attendees having to wear masks, social distancing was not required as band lead singer Santi Balmes addressed the crowd with the statement “Welcome to one of the most exciting concerts of our lives” in a surreal yet encouraging scene.
