Victoria Hotspurs have been promoted to National League 1 in their debut season in the Maltese football league.
With five matches to spare, the club’s dominant performances already secured their place in a higher division.
As they prepare for the National Amateur League Cup’s semi-final, the Hotspurs are looking forward to even greater challenges in the upcoming season, with ambitions set on continued success.

During inspections carried out this morning in Marsaxlokk, the Police along with the Detention Services Agency found 10 irregular immigrants who were living in Malta illegally.
The nationalities of the individuals are from Benin, Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Gambia.
All 10 were taken to the detention centre until their return process is completed.

On Sunday morning, PN leader Bernard Grech invited 3 independent journalists, Kurt Sansone from MaltaToday, Ana Tortell from Lovin Malta and Liam Carter from TVMnews to answer their questions on various topics.
One of the Journalists, Ana Tortell, stated that “views on abortion are shifting with roughly 65% of younger voters either supporting decriminalisation or open to it in certain cases”. She continued to ask Bernard Grech whether it’s “a bit short-sighted for the PN to outright refuse any sort of compromise on decriminalising abortion?”
Grech reiterated the party’s commitment to its pro-life values, stating that while the PN respects differing opinions, it will not alter the party’s core beliefs to gain more support.
He also stated that the difference between the PN and the Labour Party lies in the certainty of its values. “Even if we don’t agree on the matter, you know where we stand. We are pro-life.” he said.
While acknowledging that some individuals are still resorting to abortion, he stressed that the party’s focus is on understanding how they can support these people, without getting to that point and without shifting its policy.
Grech emphasised that the life of the unborn is of vital importance to the party and that he’s “not willing to make compromises because the life of the unborn person for us has value and that value is very important.“

The Nationalist Party warned that Malta’s cost of living crisis is real, not perceived. Shadow Ministers Graham Bencini, Albert Buttigieg and Ivan Castillo revealed that in 2020, basic groceries would have cost one €65.98, whereas now this costs €90.56, an increase of 37%.
They argue that rising costs in essential goods, combined with stagnant wages and pensions, are pushing more families into financial hardship.
The PN criticised Prime Minister Robert Abela for ignoring the issue, citing a Central Bank report showing a growing gap between the rich and the poor.
According to the PN, the government has failed to take meaningful action despite having access to viable solutions. They stress that addressing inflation and ensuring fair economic policies are crucial to improving quality of life for all Maltese citizens.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to championing policies that support struggling households, ensuring the economy benefits everyone.
