Valletta’s Christmas lights were officially switched on as we’re now heading for the last week of November and Christmas is edging closer.

Although this will be a Christmas unlike any other because of the pandemic, the city lights were still turned on to give hope for all those residing in Malta.

The Tourism Ministry have already clarified that there will be no mass events this year and that the few outdoor activities which will be held will be in full conformity with all Covid-19 regulations.

Joe Biden Celebrates 78th Birthday

Nov 21 2020 Share

Joe Biden turned 78 on Friday, making him the oldest president ever to enter the US office when he will be inaugurated on the 20th of January. In contrast, the youngest elected president was John F. Kennedy, who was 43 at the time of his inauguration.

On numerous times, Donald Trump sought to make Biden’s age an issue throughout the election campaign, but Biden’s campaign was revolved around taking steps to counter age-related concerns. Such strategies included having the now-president-elect jog to the podium during speaking engagements.

Nov 21 2020 Share

On Friday, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary. Unfortunately they weren’t able to celebrate such special occasion with their family due to England’s coronavirus lockdown.

Elizabeth and Philip got married on the 20th November, 1947, just two years after the end of the Second World War in London’s Westminster Abbey.

To mark the occasion, a photograph of Elizabeth and Philip was released, featuring them smiling while looking at a card made by their great-grandchildren George, Charlotte and Louis.

Duck and waffle recipe making its way to Malta

Nov 21 2020 Share

Hot, cripsy waffles, duck leg and fried egg with a perfectly runny yolk… Being a fanatic lover of all things brunch, we acknowledge many dishes that combine breakfast and lunch, but this particular one is by far our favourite.

The combination of waffles and meat comes with, as you can easily guess, a “made in the USA” label. Chicken and waffles have been paired up by American diners for a while now, but the combination of duck and waffle has not been around very long.

Although we’re not quite sure from where the recipe originated, the duck and waffle recipe have increasingly taken prominence after the opening of ‘Duck & Waffle‘, which is named after their signature dish; duck and waffle and is London’s only upscale 24-hour restaurant, serving an average of 4,000 customers a week (pre-covid).

In recent years this recipe could only be enjoyed in a few places around the world, but it is now finally making its way to Malta thanks to the newly opened bruncheria located in the heart of Ta’ Xbiex, The Black Egg.

Duck and Waffle: one of our favourites, consisting of a savoury waffle, crispy duck leg, fried egg and sweet mustard…
