Valletta Road Closures For Carnival Weekend

Transport Malta informs that due to the organisation of the Malta Carnival, certain roads will be closed on the following days and times:

Friday, 28th February between 6pm and 10pm: Triq Ġilormu Cassar, Triq Sarria, and Triq l-Assedju l-Kbir.
Saturday, 1st March between 3pm and 10:30pm: Triq Ġilormu Cassar, Triq Sarria, and Triq l-Assedju l-Kbir.
Sunday, 2nd March between 3pm and 10:30pm: Triq Ġilormu Cassar, Triq Sarria, and Triq l-Assedju l-Kbir.
Monday, 3rd March between 6pm and 10pm: Triq Ġilormu Cassar, Triq Sarria, and Triq l-Assedju l-Kbir.
Tuesday, 4th March between 6pm and 11pm: Triq Ġilormu Cassar, Triq Sarria, Triq l-Assedju l-Kbir, and Triq Sant’ Anna.

Drivers are encouraged to use the alternative routes shown below.

41.2% Of Maltese Find Religion Very Important

MEP Thomas Bajada unveiled the results of a comprehensive study entitled ‘The Economy of Wellbeing – Bridging the Gap’, which showed that for 41.2% of Maltese, religion is extremely important.

The study, led by MISCO, involved 430 persons from diverse sectors and demographics in Malta.

10.5% of respondents said that religion was not important for them at all. Religion was rated as more important for for older respondents aged over 65.

Religion was deemed very important for around 3.4% of respondents aged 18 to 29.

Meanwhile, 33% of respondents rated their community as extremely important. 8.5% found their community not important at all.

2 Persons Grievously Injured In Two Separate Accidents

Three persons were taken to Mater Dei after they were injured in separate traffic accidents yesterday.

The first accident took place at around 1415hrs in Triq il-Marfa, Mellieħa.

Preliminary investigations showed that a 50 year old woman resident of Rabat, Gozo, lost control of her Toyota Ractis which she was driving and crashed into a pole.

Along with her in the vehicle was a 29 year old man also from Rabat, Gozo.

The second incident took place at around 2345hrs, in Triq il-Kappillan Mifsud, Ħamrun.

Preliminary investigations show that a 23 year old man resident of Santa Venera suffered injuries after he was hit by a vehicle whilst he was driving a Suzuki motorcycle. The other vehicle kept driving.

A medical team assisted all those involved and transported them to hospital.

The woman and the motorcyclist were both certified to have suffered grievous injuries. The other man was certified to have suffered light injuries.

Investigations are still ongoing.
