Yesterday, on March 9th, 2024, activist group Moviment Graffitti led a protest in Valletta, Malta, to express solidarity with the Palestinian people who have suffered displacement, occupation, apartheid, and aggression at the hands of the state of Israel for the past 76 years.
The protest highlighted the urgent need for international action to address what they described as a genocide against Palestinians.
Participants in the solidarity march called for Israel’s expulsion from international organizations and institutions, as well as comprehensive sanctions across economic, political, cultural, and academic spheres. They emphasized that the ongoing genocide is facilitated by the support Israel receives from countries like Germany, France, the Netherlands, and the United States.
The protest condemned the loss of over 30,000 Palestinian lives and the continued suffering of those in Gaza, where residents face starvation and dehydration due to Israeli actions. Moviment Graffitti stressed that such injustice poses a threat to global justice.
Moreover, the group urged the Maltese government to take a firm stance in international forums, unequivocally denouncing the atrocities as genocide and advocating for concrete measures against Israel. They called for an end to ambiguity and demanded proactive efforts from the government to address the ongoing crisis and uphold human rights principles on the international stage.
