Valletta Lift Door Notice Set On Fire

Taking to social media, mayor of Valletta Olaf McKay shared a video of an individual, accompanied by another, setting a paper notice on the Valletta lift door on fire.

The video shows a hooded figure setting the paper on fire with a lighter as the other person films the act.

‘This is unacceptable’, wrote the mayor. ‘This is very dangerous and could have had serious consequences for those living in the block, some of them elderly.’

The mayor said that the act of vandalism has been reported to the police so that appropriate action is taken.

EP President Roberta Metsola Visits St. Paul’s Missionary College

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola visited St. Paul’s Missionary College yesterday, being treated to some singing and music as she met with teachers, staff and the students as they went about their school day.

Metsola had the chance to meet students of all ages, take questions, offer some life experience and enjoy some quality time back on the island amidst her very busy schedule.

The school explained on social media how, through a game, Junior 6s were able to ‘discover and learn more about our European Union as well as the role and responsibilities carried out by Dr Metsola.’

‘A further encounter was held with the Senior School Students Council together with students in Seniors 3 and 4, where through their own questions, they were more exposed to our European institutions and the way these interact not only internally but also externally.’

Malta Beat Georgia Again In 2-1 Victory

Malta secured a hard-fought 2-1 home win over Georgia once again in the UEFA Women’s Nations League, keeping their promotion hopes to League B alive.

Coach Manuela Tesse made one change, reintroducing Charlene Zammit for the suspended Emma Lipman.

Captain Rachel Cuschieri opened the scoring with a stunning long-range effort, while Georgia had a goal disallowed just before half-time in a controversial moment.

Haley Bugeja doubled Malta’s lead from the penalty spot after being fouled, scoring her 23rd international goal.

Georgia pushed back, and Mariam Kalandadze pulled one back in the dying minutes after a string of missed chances, including Tatiana Matveeva hitting the post.

Despite late pressure, Malta held firm to secure three vital points. With games against Cyprus and Andorra remaining, promotion is still within reach for the determined Maltese side.
