The Valletta Green Festival 2025 has officially launched, and transformed St George’s Square into a lush, vibrant garden complete with two water fountains, towering trees, hundreds of shrubs, and thousands of colourful flowers.
The open space invited people to reconnect with nature. Minister for National Heritage, the Arts, and Local Government Owen Bonnici described the festival as “a clear example of how art, nature, and community can come together to create vibrant and inspirational spaces at the heart of the city.”
“The Valletta Green Festival not only creates a wonderful atmosphere in St George’s Square, but also continues to raise environmental awareness among families and young people. As a Ministry, we are proud to support such initiatives that foster a sense of collective responsibility toward our environment,” Minister Bonnici added.
Jason Micallef, Chairperson of the Valletta Cultural Agency, emphasised the cultural dimension of the event: “The Valletta Green Festival highlights the role of culture in shaping a more sustainable future. It’s an engaging and practical way for people to unite and focus on what truly matters—our environment and our economic, social, and cultural regeneration.”
Free children’s activities—including face painting, pebble art, and upcycled crafts—will be held on April 27, May 1, May 3, and May 4, between 11am and 2pm.
In Triton Square, environmental awareness activities will be led by Wasteserv and the MEEE Mobile Unit, offering interactive experiences for the whole family. As part of the children’s activities Disney mascots like Timon and Pumba made their appearances on April 25th, other activities include musical group Tikka Banda will perform on April 30th and may 1st from 11am to 1pm.
