Valentina Rossi urges people to support local eateries this Easter

Valentina Rossi took to Instagram to express how sad it is to walk in Valletta with all of its restaurants closed up. She highlighted the insecurity of not knowing whether business would be coming on for all those workers still maintaining the restaurants during these trying times.

Rossi emphasised the importance of supporting local restaurants during Easter instead of cooking for yourself. By ordering from restaurants one usually dines in during the festivities and checking their delivery menu, one can both take it easy and helping businesses that require all the aid necessary.

Brits pay billions in debt during lockdown

Despite COVID-19 lockdown led to many suffering from financial crises, from job uncertainty to down-sizing, it has also seen some interesting benefits for some who managed to save and pay off debts due to lockdown. Brits have allegedly paid off £7.4 billion in credit card and other consumer debts during the first lockdown. New figures from Bank of England show that £18.5 billion was put into saving accounts in January, four times as much as the same month in previous years.

One cannot help but wonder whether something similar happened in Malta. Some might have managed to take a look at their finances and spend more responsibly or restrained themselves from useless spending. With the COVID-19 pandemic affecting every aspect of our lives, from lockdowns to quarantine, it is interesting to consider whether some people experienced something similar in Malta.

Dingli residents file judicial protest against Moviment Graffiti

Following three days of protests in Dingli by activist group Moviment Graffiti, some residents of the locality filed a judicial protest against the group for having halted the work in the area. Filed by John and Rose Sammut and Carmel Galea, the protest accuses the activists of ‘clandestinely and abusively’ creating hurdles for roadworks to occur. They claimed that due to protests, some residents could not exit their homes.

Furthermore, the petition, which collected around 15 signatures, claimed that the residents had called for roadworks to occur in the area as it needed to be upgraded to facilitate passage for fire engines and ambulances. Tensions remain high as the activists insist they have ample evidence to protest and thus remain vigilant on site.

Minister for Tourism Clayton Bartolo took to Facebook to announce that, along with Minister of Tourism and Infrastructure Ian Borg, the new Ghadira, Mellieha parking is officially open. Along with Projects Plus, the grand opening was announced on Wednesday 24th March 2021.
