The European Parliament launches the second phase of its communication campaign, aiming to highlight the importance of voting and preserving democracy.

With the European elections scheduled from 6 to 9 June 2024, over 370 million citizens across 27 Member States are expected to participate. The campaign employs a diverse communication strategy, including media events, digital outreach, partner collaborations, community engagement, and tailored educational programs.

Named “Use Your Vote. Or others will decide for you,” the campaign emphasizes democracy’s significance. It features a poignant 4-minute film, “Use your vote,” showcasing senior citizens from various EU nations sharing their democratic experiences.

President Roberta Metsola emphasizes the critical role of EU democracy, urging citizens to exercise their voting rights and fostering active citizenship.

The campaign underscores democracy as a collective responsibility, promoting unity amidst diversity.

It delves into Europe’s history and the fragile nature of democracy to bolster interest in the upcoming elections. Surveys indicate increased engagement and intent to vote, with citizens recognizing voting’s importance for democracy’s strength and the welfare of future generations.

The film and its adaptations for TV, cinema, radio, and social media will launch across all Member States on 29 April 2024, further amplifying the campaign’s message of democratic participation and collective responsibility.
