UPDATED: National Regatta to be broadcast on national TV after reaching agreement with PBS

Speaking to Malta Daily, the National Regatta Association has revealed that after reaching an agreement with PBS, the national sporting event on March 31st will be broadcast on the national TV station.

The Regatta organisation thanked Prime Minister Robert Abela and Hon. Clifton Grima, together with Mark Cutajar from Sports Malta who intervened after a decision had already been taken by PBS.

Earlier today, Malta Daily was informed that the Malta National Regatta’s organisation is considering legal action and cancellation after being refused broadcasting by national broadcaster PBS. The Regatta organisation quoted 2008 Maltese Law Number 951 Chap. 350 (10) which gives the March and September Regatta events the right and power to be broadcasted directly on Malta’s national station.

“When one considers the importance of the Regatta related to sports, traditional and culture as a national activity, it is definitely not beneficial for the Regatta to find such obstacles from governmental departments who are supposed to do everything in their power to provide the event the necessary support,” the statement had said.

The world’s very first space hotel is set for a 2027 opening

The world’s very first space hotel is set for a 2027 opening

You might soon be day-dreaming of spending your well-needed vacation in space and not on some sunny beach in Bali as the world’s very first space hotel is scheduled for a 2027 opening.

In 2019, Californian company the ‘Gateway Foundation’ unveiled plans for a cruise ship-style hotel which could one day float above Earth’s atmosphere.

The futuristic concept, being called the Voyager Station, comprises 24 modules connected by elevator shafts making up a rotating wheel orbiting the Earth. It is set to be fully operational by 2027.

COVID-19 delayed some of the construction, but it is set to kick off official construction in 2026, with head of the Gateway Foundation John Blincow saying that they are trying to make the public realise that this golden age of space travel is around the corner.

Renderings of what the hotel might look like suggest an interior not unlike a luxury bound hotel but featuring some literal out of this world views.

The design team want to bring a slice of earth to space through warm suites, chic bars and restaurants. Despite being in outer space, guests will be able to enjoy regular beds and showers.

There will however be space food, such as freeze dried ice cream, to capture the novelty of being in space. There will also be recreational activities which intend to use the fact that, due to reduced gravity, people will be able to jump higher and able to lift heavy things.

Zack and Cody are 29-years-old… let that sink in.

Zack and Cody are 29-years-old… let that sink in.
Mar 30 2022 Share

Last Sunday, the Sprouse twins, Cole and Dylan, attended Vanity Fair’s annual Academy Awards. And as the two siblings mingled with the long list of celebrities in Beverly Hills, we couldn’t help but wonder… how old are they now?

And looking up the answer to that question might have just triggered some life-shattering realisations. The twins are now 29-years-old… Let that sink in.

The memory of munching on snacks with the TV switched onto the Disney Channel as Zack and Cody engaged in some shenanigans seemed just like yesterday…

The ‘Suite Life of Zack and Cody’ aired back in 2005, going on for 3 seasons. The two then picked up their roles for a spinoff series ‘The Suite Life on Deck’ in 2008, which ran for another 3 seasons.

If you’re wondering, Brenda Song (London Tipton) is 34 years old, Ashley Tisdale (Maddie Fitzpatrick) is 36 years old and Phill Lewis, who portrayed Marion Mosby is 54 years old.

Further google searches into the rabbit hole of nostalgia showed that Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato are are all 29-years-old. Some of the more mind-blowing realisations were Moises Arias, who played Rico on Hannah Montana, is 27 years old.

Artist reimagines Earth after climate collapse with chilling images

Artist reimagines Earth after climate collapse with chilling images

We’ve been hearing about the threats of climate collapse, global warming and environmental degradation for years. But it seems as though not enough people are grasping the potential consequences of these very real threats.

And that is what French photographer and digital artist Fabien Barrau seeks to achieve through their bizarre Instagram page.

Posing as someone travelling back from the future, going as far as 2476, Barrau depicts iconic landmarks and cities as having been overcome by the worst (at least for us) nature can offer.

Barrau created images which show how planet Earth could look like just a few hundred years from now. Among them are an image of a flooded Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower covered in sand dunes and cities consumed by overgrowth.

Another image shows whales peacefully swimming alongside a now flooded Arc de Triomphe. The images may show a new beginning for nature without us, but for humans worldwide, the images serve as a chilling threat.

The captions for the images are usually written as; ‘I’m coming back from the future’. They then add a city/area and a futuristic date like 2219 or 2476. It’s an urgent warning for all of us to find more climate and environment friendly ways of living.

World powers and leaders have been highlighting the impacts of climate change, making vows towards carbon neutrality. However, scientists have been pushing for more change to occur quicker as they warn the disaster is right at our doorstep.
