Maltese residents returning to Malta without a vaccine certificate must register for permission to avoid being subject to a 2-week hotel quarantine which may cost up to €1,400.
Superintendent for Public Health Professor Charmaine Gauci announced on Thursday that she will take decisions on a case-to-case basis and confirmed that travellers arriving from any of the 71 countries on Malta’s ‘red list’ can enter the country without a vaccine certificate but must show a negative PCR test no later than 72 hours before their arrival.
Currently, the only hotel available is the Marina Hotel in St. George’s Bay but calls for a second quarantine hotel were made by the Malta Tourism Authority earlier this week.
