Unvaccinated Maltese arrivals require permission to avoid hotel quarantine

Maltese residents returning to Malta without a vaccine certificate must register for permission to avoid being subject to a 2-week hotel quarantine which may cost up to €1,400.

Superintendent for Public Health Professor Charmaine Gauci announced on Thursday that she will take decisions on a case-to-case basis and confirmed that travellers arriving from any of the 71 countries on Malta’s ‘red list’ can enter the country without a vaccine certificate but must show a negative PCR test no later than 72 hours before their arrival.

Currently, the only hotel available is the Marina Hotel in St. George’s Bay but calls for a second quarantine hotel were made by the Malta Tourism Authority earlier this week.

Increased anxiety amongst youths due to exam pressure

The Richmond Foundation has shared that youths in Malta seem to be under enormous pressure and suffering anxiety due to the stress place upon them to perform well academically.

The organisation reported that a considerable amount of students utilised the Foundation’s online mental health service Olli-Chat to reach out for support, with youths ranging from secondary school level to University feeling the enormous academic pressure paired with the struggles and increased isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ħadd Għalik coming to an end after 13 years

Over the past 13 years, Ħadd Għalik has built a reputation as one of the most beloved cheesy television programmes on the Maltese islands and after a historic run of Sunday programming, host Angie Laus announced that it will be coming to an end.

In a video posted to Ħadd Għalik’s social media channels, Angie Laus highlighted her experience over the past 13 years, going on to thank the people behind the scenes, the viewers and each and every one of the show’s participants.

The popular television personality also took the opportunity to announce that a new show with the name of ‘Uejja’ will be premiering in October.
