Unusual friendship between cat and squab

Unusual friendship between cat and squab
Jun 12 2023 Share

Arnold Sciberras, known locally as The Exterminator, shared the story of Mufasa, a maicoon kitten, and a squab named Prada, who became the unlikeliest of friends.

‘The two grew together, becoming friends’ explained Arnold. They were separated years later for unseen circumstances, he continued.

Despite not seeing each other for roughly half a year, the two never forgot each other. ‘They were reunited in a new place’ and ‘could not leave each other’s side, protecting each other.’

‘Its incredible the emotions they have shown when they saw each other again’ concluded Arnold.

Jun 12 2023 Share

Malta’s film industry is growing at an unprecedented pace as more and more directors, actors and creators with international acclaim choose our island for their blockbuster projects.

Of course, this has prompted Malta’s Film Commission to continue investing in the sector, with Commissioner Johann Grech announcing €500,000 annual pledge into education initiatives.

But that’s not at all as Malta is set to host the very first conference of its kind on the island focused on Film-Education.

On the 27th of June, the Mediterranean Conference Centre will bring together professionals, educators and policymakers to discuss themes related to film education in both formal and informal settings.

With keynote speeches delivered by the likes of Kathleen Beckman from FACETS – an American nonprofit organisation with decades of experience in Film Education initiatives in Chicago – it will also feature panels consisting of representatives from various entities.

These include the University of Malta, MCAST, secondary schools, Aġenzija Żgħażagħ, NGOs, National Skills Council, film festival organisers and representatives from the industry.

So if you are in any way interested in the film industry or the fields which educate the youth to seek it as a career, mark down your calendar as this is the place to be.

Anyone seeking more information about Sure Start or the Film Commission’s initiatives in Film Education can send an email to [email protected].

Following his elimination from the villa, Love Island Malta contestant Timmy surprised his friends, who welcomed him with with lots of hugs and celebration.

Timmy had entered as a bombshell, and quickly assimilated into the group. However, it was down to him and Andriy yesterday as Chelsea had to pick who she wished to re-couple with after Allen was coupled with Michela.

Activists protest lack of action over animal rights

Activists protest lack of action over animal rights
Jun 12 2023 Share

A group of animal rights activists took to the steps of the Auberge de Castille, donning masks of animals as well as various governmental figures like the Prime Minister and the Animal Rights minister, to protest the lack of action over various conditions impacting voiceless animals negatively.

The action was done, the activists explained in a statement, after an open letter penned to the Prime Minister was ‘ignored’ as little has transpired since then.

‘The reality experienced by shelters, animal carers, and activists sharply contrasts with the false narrative presented by the Minister and the Government. The Labour Government has been in office for nine years, ample time to strategise and implement essential changes to improve animal welfare.’

The group called for various legislations that regulate animal breeding, the regulation and licensing of professionals in the pet care industry, the prevention of dog isolation, etc.

The activists also called for the addressing of operational efficiencies within Animal Welfare, the betterment of conditions of non-companion animals, as well as various other legal reforms.

‘In conclusion, the above-mentioned points only touch upon a fraction of the issues related to animals. It is equally crucial to address the urgent need for protecting nature, preserving natural habitats, and conserving biodiversity.’
