Unemployment Drops To 2.6% In June 2023

In June 2023, the seasonally adjusted monthly unemployment rate was 2.6 per cent, showing a decline of 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous month.

It also decreased by 0.4 percentage points compared to the same month last year.

During June 2023, the number of unemployed individuals totalled 7,820, with males and the 25 to 74 age group being the main contributors to overall unemployment.

Among them, there were 2,192 unemployed youths, while the number of unemployed individuals aged between 25 and 74 years stood at 5,627.

For June 2023, the unemployment rate for males was 2.8 per cent, decreasing by 0.1 percentage points from the previous month.

Meanwhile, the rate for females remained stable at 2.3 per cent, the same as May 2023.

The youth unemployment rate, representing individuals aged 15 to 24 years, increased to 8.7 per cent, while the rate for those aged between 25 and 74 years was 2.0 per cent, a decrease of 0.1 percentage points from May 2023.

Transport Malta Officials Help Family Arrive At Mater Dei Emergency

A post shared by local Ruth Micallef highlighted the act of generosity by a couple of Transport Malta officers who helped them arrive at Mater Dei Hospital due to an emergency.

The officers helped the family weave through the traffic at around 1230 yesterday. Not even a siren could push through the traffic congestion, but one of the officers went up to the cars on foot to ask the drivers to move to the side.

Upon reaching the hospital, the officers carried Ruth’s daughter to her being unable to walk due to the pain she was experiencing.

‘Sorry I do not know your names, but may your great help be known with all. We should highlight all the positive you do as well’, she ended her post.

Holding a karaoke event at Dar Bjorn Żebbuġ to build up anticipation for a fundraising marathon on the 24th of September, ALS activist Bjorn joined in on a karaoke with his mother.

The video of the adorable mother-son moment was shared onto social media, with Bjorn saying that the event yielded some hidden talents at the home for the residents suffering with ALS and other neurological conditions.

Many followers and supporters of the cause commented on the video, expressing how wonderful it is to see the mother and daughter sing together as they both work to help those in need.

Late Evening Fight At Valletta Bus Terminus

A video sent to this newsroom shows two women engaged in a fight as they likely awaited the bus at the Valletta bus terminus.

One of the women can be seen gripping the other and repeatedly hitting her before persons in the vicinity get involved to stop the fight.
