St Julian’s mayor Albert Buttigieg took to Facebook to reveal the state of his locality after commercial trash was left on the streets, uncollected by the concerned authorities.

The garbage bags and other trash stood out on Paceville’s roads, with Buttigieg saying that the local council picks up residential wast, with only organic waste was being collected on such a day.

‘This is all commercial waste which is supposedly collected by private contractors’ he said. ‘According to law, shops must have a contractor.’

‘Although great efforts are being made to bring in tourists, this is definitely not the way’ he said, calling out the MTA and ERA. ‘Now that the election is over, there is no fear that a vote will be lost’ he said.

New amendments to the IVF law in Malta will now allow parents to go through the IVF process for free even if they have another child.

This was revealed by Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Chris Fearne alongside Parliamentary Secretary for Reforms and Equality Rebecca Buttigieg.

Fearne spoke about the publication of the amended law which is set to be issued in the coming days. He explained how persons related through marriage will now be allowed to make gamete donations, something which was not allowed in the prior law.

The health minister highlighted an increase in the number of cycles for women to access IVF free of charge. He revealed that parents who undergo three cycles and could not have children will be given the opportunity for another cycle for free.

With the age limit going up to 45-years of age, persons who have embryos stored abroad can have them brought over and undergo IVF in Malta. Several advances in science and technology have welcomed 418 babies through the process, said Fearne.

On her part, Buttigieg said that the changes to the law are being made because the government wants to reduce the pain of parents as much as possible and give everyone an opportunity at child rearing.
