UK opens mass vaccination sites; 1.2 million already vaccinated

The UK has opened seven mass vaccination sites. Football Stadiums and Horse Racing Courses are being used as sites to vaccinate as many people as possible.

The UK is additionally fighting the variant strain of COVID-19. Thousands are to be vaccinated per well and more sites will follow in order to keep vaccination numbers as high as possible.

MUT and MAM condemn government for firing Health Consultant who expressed concern about reopening of schools

The Malta Union of Teachers has expressed its concern regarding the MAM’s statement about a Health Consultant who was fired from his post after urging caution when it comes to the reopening of schools.

They are reaching out to the government to rethink their decision since the said consultant was merely doing his job and exercising his right to give an educated opinion about the safety of our citizens.

First batch of Moderna vaccines arrive in Malta

The first consignment of Moderna vaccines arrived in Malta this morning. More batches of the vaccine are expected to arrive on the island in the coming weeks.

The shipment arrived from Brussels and AirMalta said that it spent the past month getting ready to be able to carry these vaccines. Acquiring the necessary certification and updating its procedures to be able to carry the vaccines.

Maltese roads this weekend: 4 cases of driving under the influence and driving a car while clamped

The Malta Police Force have found 4 people driving under the influence over the weekend, with one case where the driver refused a breathalyser test.

Another case reports the halting of an individual driving a vehicle without a license, while clamped and with a missing registration plate, with a passenger in possession of what is suspected to be cocaine.

These cases were all part of the regular roadside inspections conducted by the Malta Police Force.
