UK 10PM curfew to be scrapped when pubs re-open

According to a new article from The Sun newspaper, the currently-imposed 10PM curfew will be scrapped when pubs reopen.

The Sun alleged that PM Boris Johnson has planned for measures to be simplified as they pave the way for the post-lockdown situation, looking at an opening as early as May.

The newspaper credits ‘multiple Whitehall sources and ministers’ but stresses that the idea is still in its early days and any changes would reflect the state of the country with the pandemic taken into consideration.

Malta youth unemployment is fourth lowest in Europe

Malta has registered the fourth lowest rate of unemployment in the European Union, as shared by Prime Minister Robert Abela.

Abela shared an infographic highlighting that Malta holds an 11% unemployment rate, lower only than Germany, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic with 6.1%, 9.5% and 10.3% respectively.

134 COVID-19 cases registered overnight with 195 recoveries

Malta has registered 134 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours from 2,772 swab tests, while 195 patients have recovered. This information was announced by the official Facebook page of Malta’s Ministry for Health.

As of Friday 5th February 2021, 35,676 vaccine doses were administered of which 7,594 were 2nd doses.

To date, Malta has registered 18,576 COVID-19 cases in total, of which: 15,896 have recovered, 279 died and 2,401 are still active.
