Ryan Calleja was one of three contestants to feature in the show’s segment Audience Olympics. Calleja hit it off well with Ellen, but did not fare very well in the game, finishing in last place.

Some controversy has surrounded the talk show host in recent years in regards to allegations of her having a very toxic workplace. Despite this, Degeneres received a warm farewell by fans as she busted some final dance moves to mark the end of an era.

Inmates will be able to meet their kids in safe spaces away from prison

A new initiative will see parent Maltese inmates given the chance to meet their children away from prison. The safe space is located in Marsa and will be under the surveillance of professional social workers.

The aim of the building is to welcome kids in a much more relaxed environment whilst ensuring the highest levels of security.

The initiative was announced by Home Affairs, National Security and Law Enforcement Minister Byron Camilleri, who expressed in a press conference how there had always been a wish that such a space would exist.

He stated how a prison is no place for children, no less ones visiting their parents. Alongside the ‘From Dark to Light Foundation’ (Fondazzjoni mid-Dlam ghad-Dawl), the initiative will see the two worlds converge with security at the forefront.

Camilleri also spoke about how, working with ‘RIse’, the government is aiming to increase aftercare for prisoners for when they serve their time and return to society.

On his part, new prison boss Robert Brincau said that this shows how all the entities involved are showing their faith in the process of prisoner rehabilitation. He said that the visits will start soon, following the necessary assessments of the eligible prisoners.

ESPN, an American international sports channel, has set its eyes on local football star Haley Bugeja as one of the top under-21 women footballers globally.

Bugeja is no stranger to such lists or honorary titles, and she has once again been chosen by journalist Sophie Lawson writing for ESPN for her unmatched on-pitch skills.

Bugeja placed 15th in a list of 21, with the description outlining her rise to football renown, her skills and even some areas of improvement for Bugeja.

‘At 16, Bugeja signed for Sassuolo, but the then-unknown forward stamped her authority on her debut Serie A game against Napoli, scoring twice — including a dizzying solo effort in which she wormed her way around four defenders before unleashing a shot with her weaker foot’ read the article.

‘The emergence of Bugeja has revitalised the diminutive European nation of Malta (ranked No. 94 in the world) and with her help, they have managed to show a more competitive edge in international competition.’
