Intensive investigations in relation to two robberies which took place on Tuesday evening at lotto booths in Birkirkara and Burmarrad led to the arrest of two men who were allegedly involved in the robberies.
Investigations showed that one of the men, identified as a Serbian national, allegedly entered the booths armed with a knife and committed the robbery.
The other man, a Syrian national, was waiting for him with a van.
After the van used was identified, the search continued and a vehicle was found parked outside a residence in St Paul’s Bay. This led to the arrest of the Syrian national in St Paul’s Bay and later the arrest of the Serbian national in Mosta.
The two men are being held in the Floriana lock up and an inquiry has been opened, with investigations continuing on.
