A poor turtle named Yosu has undergone its first operation after suffering a severe back injury after being hit by a ship’s propeller. Two other operations are to follow, with the turtle’s condition indicated to having been injured for around four weeks. Vincent Attard, Nature Trust’s chief executive, told TVM that the turtle is in a critical condition but is responding well to treatment.

The turtle’s skin was not broken, preventing water from mixing with it organs. Many other creatures such as limpets have grown between the shell and the skin of its body. Attard said the turtle was found by persons on board a yacht sailing from Greece, along two others. One was unfortunately dead whilst the other suffered a severe infection after being trapped in plastic. Nature Trust recalled how turtles face extinction and appealed to boat owners to sail more carefully.

Squid Game could become Netflix’s most popular show of all time

Squid Game could become Netflix’s most popular show of all time
Sep 28 2021 Share

The streaming giant Netflix’s head boss has revealed that Squid Game could become their biggest TV show ever. Netflix revealed that Extraction nearly reached 100 million accounts in the first 28 days of its release, with Bridgerton reaching up to 82 million homes in the same time frame. The Witcher, Bird Box and Stranger Things occupied the top ten list, but the Korean TV show could dominated the top of the list if the trend continues. Co-CEO Ted Sarandos revealed that Squid Game is the world’s number one series at the moment and was on pace to be the most popular Netflix show ever.

Sarandos exclaimed that this was unexpected, especially considering that the series is immensely gruesome and gory, accompanied with psychological terror. The TV show has a simple premise – broke players compete in a selection of children’s games for a share in a $38.5 million prize. If one doesn’t win or cooperate, well, you’re killed off. With a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the series might just make it to the top of every list.

Extended times & increased seating for establishments welcoming only vaccinated patrons

Sep 28 2021 Share

In a press conference addressed by Health Minister Chris Fearne earlier this afternoon, it was revealed that bars and restaurants which limit entry to their establishment to solely vaccinated individuals will be allowed relax COVID-19 measures as of next week.

Relaxed measures include a decrease in between tables from two metres to one and a half metres along with the maximum of people seated around the table going up from six to eight. Opening hours of such establishments will also be extended to 3am with a limited bar service.

If they choose to go ahead with such measures, the operators must check that attendees aged 12 and over provide a valid vaccine certificate and ensure that all staff are vaccinated. Bars & restaurants who choose to allow unvaccinated patrons must abide by the measures currently in place.

The Deputy Prime Minister went on to reveal that Malta will also start recognising certificates issued by Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Rwanda.

Do you agree with these new measures.

Injured worker who fell two storeys in construction site left on pavement by boss
Sep 28 2021 Share

A series of photos and a video clip uploaded to Facebook show an injured and traumatised worker abandoned by his boss on the pavement in Selmun, Mellieha. The shocking upload by Caroline Galea revealed that the man fell down two storeys whilst at work on a building site, with his boss telling him he’d take him to a hospital but instead dumping him on the side of a road. Galea stated that this happened because the man was working without a permit, having been found near the Selmun athletic track at around 11:30 am today.

‘The legal ramifications of that seem to outweigh ensuring the safety and care of a fellow human’ said Galea. She also revealed that the man was scared, seriously injured and crying because he did not want to die or go to prison. He was allegedly too scared to say who committed this horrendous act. Galea also revealed that the police and ambulance reassured him and did their job very well. Speaking to Lovin Malta, police spokespersons said that investigations are underway, with the cause or severity of his injuries as of yet undetermined.
