Transport Malta has issued an important notice regarding a full road closure on Triq is-Swieqi in San Ġiljan, scheduled for Monday, 12th May.

The closure is necessary to facilitate infrastructure works being carried out by Enemalta plc in the area, TM reported.

To minimise disruption to traffic, Transport Malta has outlined a series of alternative routes and is urging motorists to plan ahead and follow the designated diversions:

From Sliema to St George’s Bay – Follow the orange route

From Swieqi to St George’s Bay – Follow the green route

From St George’s Bay to St Julian’s – Follow the blue route

All drivers are encouraged to pay attention to traffic signs and use these suggested routes to avoid unnecessary delays and congestion during the roadworks.

Transport Malta thanked the public for their understanding and cooperation as the works are carried out. Further updates will be provided if there are any changes to the schedule or traffic arrangements.

The Xrobb L-Għaġin Nature Park & Wildlife Rehab Centre team had the opportunity of releasing little turtle Manuela earlier this week.

Manuela arrived to the team on the 31st of January, unable to dive after having ingested plastic.

After treatment, she defecated the plastic and started to dive again, leading to her release back into the sea.

‘Safe travels to our little Manuela’, wrote Wildlife Rescue Team Malta. ‘Please stay out of trouble, and hopefully we will see you in around 17 – 20 year’s time for nesting.’

Shared to local Facebook group ‘Nostalgia Malta’, the photos capture the simplicity of a life very few of us will now have a memory of.

Other photos show a shepherd heading home after work in Tarxien, and the Wignacourt Tower as it overlooks St Paul’s Bay in 1967.
