A tribute to the war torn Ukraine was discovered on a local beach by a Maltese environmentalist, consisting of a heart shape and the country’s name with pebbles.
The heartfelt message was discovered at Golden Bay by Cami Appelgren, a local environment activist who shared a snapshot of the message on her social media.
‘Sometimes you stumble across these acts of empathy’ said the activist on social media. It is unknown who created the pebble structure, but it does send a message of support, love and compassion to all those seeking refuge in other countries or fighting to defend their country.
The United Nations revealed on Tuesday that around 2 million people have fled Ukraine as of yet, most of them seeking refuge in Poland, Moldova and Romania.
Prime Minister Robert Abela revealed earlier today that Malta has taken in 26 Ukrainian refugees so far, but it is unclear how many more the island plans on taking in. This also follows protests organised in Malta and all over the world showing solidarity with the war torn country.
