On Sunday morning, Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ian Borg along with Prime Minister Robert Abela inaugurated the Central Link project after months of anticipation.
The €55 million project, which was approved by the Planning Authority in the summer of 2019, was initiated to reduce travel time, accident risks and congestion in Maltese roads while developing safer areas of travel from Mireħel Bypass to the foot of Saqqajja Hill. During his speech, Minister Borg stated that when planning such a project, no backlash or controversy was expected and despite receiving some negative feedback, these same people told the Minister that they were mistaken.
He went on to thank the Prime Minister for welcoming such a development which will benefit many localities within the central area of the Maltese islands and beyond.
