Traffic & confusion in Ħaż-Żebbuġ after major roundabout removed

Traffic & confusion in Ħaż-Żebbuġ after major roundabout removed
Sep 30 2022 Share

If you were anywhere near Ħaż-Żebbuġ this morning, you may have experience a fair bit of traffic and many commuters, residents and politicians have gone public to express their concern on the matter.

A vital roundabout in one of the village’s main arteries was reportedly removed as part of the Ħaż-Żebbuġ-Siggiewi junction, with a smaller one painted atop the road in its place.

PN MP and spokesperson for Lands and Consumer Rights Rebekah Borg stated that such a decision has cause major confusion and “no one can understand what is happening.”

Borg went on to state that, apart from the fact that all of the surrounding roads have become one ways and do not make sense, the residents were never consulted on the matter and remain concerned at the state of their roads.

PN MP Jerome Caruana Cilia shines light on alarming state of Qormi primary school

Sep 30 2022 Share

Nationalist Party MP and Shadow Minister for Finance Jerome Caruana Cilia recently took to Facebook to express his concern at the current state of the St. George Primary School in Qormi.

“After being spoken to by multiple people, on the 4th of August I put forward this parliamentary inquiry to the Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research & Innovation. Today, parents sent me this photo stating that this situation has persisted.”

The photo sent in by the parents shows the dilapidated state of the Qormi classroom, with the walls in absolute disrepair as paint continues to rip off the wall unveiling the surface beneath it. Many of Caruana Cilia’s followers took to the comments to share their concern, with one user in particular comparing the school to one in a third world country.

Caruana Cilia appealed to the government to forget propaganda and take action as soon as possible.

Ben Laferla’s mother urges funeral attendees to bring photos & donate to animal shelters

Ben Laferla's mother urges funeral attendees to bring photos & donate to animal shelters
Sep 30 2022 Share

“Should you wish to do so, print out your favourite photo of/with Ben to attach to a collage at the entrance to the church. Feel free to write a message at the back of the photo.”

The mother of Ben Laferla, the 21-year-old whose life ended abruptly in a Swieqi car incident, has urged funeral attendees to bring printed memories and donate to animal shelters rather than sending flowers.

Fiona Laferla wrote that they think Ben would be happier if attendees donate to Noah’s Ark, CLAWS or to Adopt a Sicilian stray rather than sending flowers, going on to thank everyone for their love and support. She also urged those who plan on attending to not feel the need to wear black but wear whatever they feel comfortable in.

Laferla’s life will be celebrated at the Ibrag Parish Church on Saturday 1st October at 9.30am and friends & family are welcome to attend.

RIP Ben.
