Labour MEP Josianne Cutajar took to social media to highlight an act of kindness by a foreign Gozo Channel cafeteria worker after she forgot her purse.

Explaining how she arrived in a rush to catch the Gozo ferry, she realised she left her purse back in her Malta apartment just as she was about to pay.

Josianne thought it best to give the water back as she could not pay. However, the cafeteria worker decided to pay for the water she needed and, with a smile offered to hand her the water.

‘A small gesture but I appreciated it immensely’, explaining how she told the worker that she could wait a bit more without drinking.

‘Another worker with him told me “you are a kind person”, but in reality they were the ones with a big heart’, revealing that the worker returned and insisted on giving her the water.

‘I want to share this experience because we hear a lot against foreigners. I’d like to hear about more gestures from people who, irrespective of their skin colour, religion or nationality, try to help others even from the little they have.’
