In just over three years since its inception, Malta Daily has rapidly emerged as one of Malta’s leading media platforms. According to the Broadcasting Authority’s most recent survey, the March 2024 Findings Report, Malta Daily ranks among the most popular online destinations for Maltese programmes

The survey highlighted that Facebook remains the top choice for watching Maltese programmes online, with an overwhelming 92% of users favouring the platform. YouTube and Instagram follow with 51.9% and 38.3%, respectively.

Malta Daily has carved out its niche, becoming the fastest-growing information and entertainment portal in the country. Local users frequently turn to Malta Daily for their news and entertainment needs.

The term ‘online Maltese programmes’ refers to audiovisual content produced exclusively for online platforms, bypassing traditional TV. The survey also revealed that mobile phones are the dominant device for consuming this content, with 92.3% of viewers using them across all age groups and genders. In comparison, only 3.7% and 2.8% of viewers use laptops and tablets, respectively.

Moreover, 63.9% of online viewers watch 15 to 30 minutes of local online programmes daily on weekdays, with 18.2% preferring online news portals like Malta Daily for local news, surpassing Facebook’s 15.6%.

Chayenne Riolo has been elected as the Vice Chair of the European Democratic Students (EDS), Europe’s largest student political organisation.

Representing over 600,000 students across 30 European states, the EDS is the youth wing of the centre-right European People’s Party (EPP). The 22-year-old Maltese youth, nominated by the Maltese student organisation SDM, expressed her gratitude and excitement on Instagram following her election, thanking SDM for their nomination and support, and acknowledging the efforts of her predecessors and colleagues.

“Honoured to have been elected Vice Chair of the largest student political organisation in Europe @edsnet.eu. Thank you @sdm_malta for presenting my nomination and for your constant support,” Riolo posted. Riolo stated that she looks forward to working with the new team under Chairman Michele Sismondini and thanked outgoing Chairman Beppe Galea for his encouragement and dedication.

Riolo’s involvement with SDM since the age of 15 has been a significant part of her journey, and she hopes to continue the legacy of Maltese leadership within the EDS.
