An Argentinian football fan who went topless during the World Cup final has reportedly escaped without any punishment from Qatar after concerns were raised abut her wellbeing.

Public nudity is criminalised in Qatar, leading to fans raising concerns as to her safety.

Non-Qatari women were not required to wear the traditional abaya robe when attending the tournament. However, people travelling around the Gulf State were banned from wearing tight clothing and had to have their shoulders and knees covered at all times.

It remains to be confirmed what the woman’s current status is but this latest update eases the concerns of many after the footage of the woman going topless surfaced.

King Charles III bank note designs officially revealed

King Charles III bank note designs officially revealed
Dec 20 2022 Share

With plans to enter circulation by mid-2024, the Bank of England have officially revealed the designs for the bank notes featuring an image of King Charles III.

The designs were announced for the first time in the run-up to the coronation in May. The UK central bank said that the king’s portrait would appear on existing designs of all of its polymer tank notes, with these being £5, £10, £20 and £50.

Notes featuring Queen Elizabeth II will continue to remain legal tender, thus allowing the public to carry on using them as normal.

The face of the king will appear on the front of the bank notes and in the see-through security window on the notes. Threadneedle Street said plans had been made to minimise the environmental as well as financial impact of the change by only printing new notes to replace worn bank notes.

This means that the notes featuring both the late monarch and the new king will co-circulate. Charles will become the second monarch in British history to feature on a bank note.

This is because despite paper money having been produced by the Bank of England since the late 1600s, a likeness of the reigning monarch was first featured in 1960, when the £1 note showing Queen Elizabeth II was introduced for everyday use.

Celebrity chef Salt Bae broke FIFA rules by holding World Cup

Celebrity chef Salt Bae broke FIFA rules by holding World Cup
Dec 20 2022 Share

FIFA are currently facing questions after celebrity chef Nusret Gokce, widely known as Salt Bae, somehow accessed the pitch at the Lusail Stadium after the World Cup final and held the iconic trophy.

Gokce could be seen grabbing Argentinian football star Lionel Messi to get his attention despite being repeatedly ignored by the PSG star.

The chef then remained on the pitch among the players and broke FIFA’s strict rules as to who may touch the trophy.

The governing body have very strict rules surrounding the trophy, with the current design dating back to 1974.

‘As one of the most recognised sports symbols in the world and a priceless icon, the original Fifa World Cup Trophy can only be touched and held by a very select group of people, which includes former winners of the Fifa World Cup and heads of state.’

Should there be any suggestion that Gokce was granted official accreditation by FIFA, this could leave them open to allegations of special treatment. Gokce happens to be a friend of FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
