Mr Beast puts his name forward to become CEO of YouTube

Mr Beast puts his name forward to become CEO of YouTube
Feb 17 2023 Share

Massively popular YouTuber Mr Beast has just put his name into the bag to become the new CEO of the video based platform.

Jimmy Donaldson, the man behind the 134 million subscribers YouTube channel, has also acquired a considerable amount of money through his work.

The 24-year-old is now setting his sights on literally owning the platform which contributed to, if not creating, his wealth.

Responding to a tweet which shared the news of YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki stepping down, Mr Beast asked: ‘Can I be CEO?’

Now, this could might very well be a joke, but given his net worth as well as the ongoing trend of popular rich people buying entire platforms (Musk and Twitter), this might become a possibility.

Wojcicki announced on Thursday February 16th that she would be stepping down after nine years leading the platform. For the time being, the position of fCEO is going to chief product officer Neal Mohan.

“Today, after nearly 25 years here, I’ve decided to step back from my role as the head of YouTube and start a new chapter focused on my family, health, and personal projects I’m passionate about,” she announced.

She continued: “For all the YouTubers I’ve had the privilege to work with, you have done so much to make this platform better over the years.

As various artists around Malta and Gozo give the finishing touches to their Carnival floats ahead of the festivities taking place, Prime Minister Robert Abela paid a visit to the various artists.

Organised by Festivals Malta, Malta’s Carnival is one of the oldest traditions held on the islands, going back approximately 500 years.

The activities will be spread over 5 days in Valletta, with various competitions taking place ranging from floats, competitive dance, installations, costumes, etc.

The Prime Minister talked about the tradition with the participants, who explained to him how they create their work through a creative process.

The work takes three months or more to complete, earning the praise of Abela for the determination and commitment to the craft.

The Prime Minister also got a chance to see the new vehicles which will be used during Carnival, which were made possible through a €2.1 million investment.

He explained how the government is committed to continue investing into this cultural sector and making it sustainable and secure for all those participating.

After having managed to scale Africa’s highest mountain Kilimanjaro, Labour MP Alex Muscat racked up a whopping €51,280 donation for Puttinu Cares.

Muscat gifted the donation to Puttinu on his birthday, after having spent over 7 hours in January traversing freezing cold temperatures and other challenges which pushed him mentally, physically and emotionally.

The MP had raised donations during his mountainous task, keeping followers up to date with his voyage.

Now he gets to give back to the community who supported him and help people, especially children, suffering with severe challenges themselves such as cancer.
