Maltese Craftsmanship: The Heart Of Our Identity

Maltese Craftsmanship: The Heart Of Our Identity
Jun 16 2025 Share

“Maltese craftsmanship is a pillar of our identity. Once we forget it, we lose a part of ourselves,” emphasized the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Anġlu Farrugia, during the inauguration of the Maltese Craftsmanship Exhibition in the Parliament Foyer.

In his speech, the Speaker remarked that craftsmanship is not only a representation of manual work but also a testimony of identity, deep roots, and knowledge passed down from generation to generation. He added that Parliament welcomes this heritage with dignity, as we embrace the artistic work that, for many centuries, has helped build and keep alive our national consciousness.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Malta Crafts Foundation, Elton Micallef, said that this exhibition does not only celebrate products but also values such as authenticity, creativity, dedication, and a sense of community. He said this should inspire everyone to continue appreciating and strengthening craftsmanship as an important part of Malta’s future.

In his address, the Minister for the Economy, Enterprise, and Strategic Projects, Silvio Schembri, said that this year the exhibition is given special importance, as it is being held in the highest institution of the country.
