Tomorrowland 2021 officially cancelled

Tomorrowland 2021 officially cancelled
Jun 18 2021 Share

Despite being planned to welcome 70,000 each weekend, Tomorrowland 2021 has officially been cancelled. The event was set to happen August 27th to the 29th and September 3rd to the 5th, but the mayor of Boom and Rumst did not give the green-light for the festival’s proposed dates. The reason permission was not given, according to the mayor, was due to the lack of the Ministerial Decree which states that only events up to 400 people would be possible.

More reasons were followed-up, stating that pressure would be placed on police if any COVID-19 passport checking were to take place. This would use up too much police resource and police time. The team behind the giant festival expressed the heartbreaking news by saying that ‘the mayor of Boom and his council have indicated to us that we can go to the council of state against this decision.’ There have been no further updates so far, but the team hopes that people attending will hear more clarity.

Over 10,000 COVID-19 cases registered in UK

Over 10,000 COVID-19 cases registered in UK since February
Jun 18 2021 Share

The UK has experienced an unprecedented spike in COVID-19 cases as they rise over 10,000 for the first time in four months. With the more contagious delta variant being the main culprit behind the spread, government figures have reported a whopping 11,007 cases. This marks the highest daily number since February 19th when 12,027 were recorded. This sets in stone the fear that UK, which is the European country with highest virus-related deaths, will be entering a third wave.

Professor Chris Whitty, the UK government’s chief medical advisor, stated that the height of the current surge is still uncertain but will unfortunately mean more hospitalisations and deaths. The majority of confirmed cases are among younger groups who have not yet received their vaccine jab, forcing the UK to extend their rollout to all adults over the age of 18.
