“Together we can write history”; 100 days of Bernard Grech as PN leader

“Together we can write history.”

These were the words of Dr. Bernard Grech, 100 days after his election as Nationalist Party Leader.

Dr. Grech is enthusiastic in presenting a ‘New Page’ for our country and while the boost in ratings on the MaltaToday survey was encouraging, the PN leader is aware that the party has more work to do.

Amongst other plans, Dr. Grech revealed the importance of investing in the youth and Gozo, two sectors in which he will maintain constant contact and see to the development of the PN in those areas.

Paris’ Champs-Élysées is set to be turned into an ‘extraordinary garden’ after getting the green-light from Mayor Anne Hidalgo.

The €250 million project will go ahead after France’s hosting of the 2024 Summer Olympics with the Champs-Élysées committee president expressing enthusiasm over the revival of one of the world’s most beautiful avenues.

In Malta, concern was expressed over the Floriana’s green transformation project being swept under the carpet ‘for almost 8 years’.

Doctors declare industrial dispute over transfer of Dr. Kenneth Grech

The Medical Association of Malta has declared an industrial dispute which will start from Thursday following the unacceptable transfer of medical consultant Dr. Kenneth Grech.

The dispute revolves around the removal of Dr. Grech from the COVID-19 response team after appealing for caution regarding the opening of schools while a spokesperson for the Ministry of Health stated that Dr. Grech was not transferred for the issue with MUT but to return to his original role.

It was explained that Dr. Grech was part of a strategy team for allocation of EU funds for the health sector and was returned to his role to prevent Malta from losing millions of funds for the future of the country’s health and COVID-19 recovery.

Government vouchers scheme potentially delayed

The Ministry for Economy has just made a statement regarding the rollout of the Government voucher scheme as part of the 2021 budget.

The ministry stated that it will discuss with the relevant stakeholders to maximise use of the vouchers scheme and release them to the benefit of the economy.

Thus, the scheme may be postponed to a time when establishments such as bars and clubs are opened in order to wholly contribute to Malta’s economy.
