Sauntering is defined as walking along in a. Slow and relaxed manner – something many of us definitely need more of in this hectic world we’re living in.

The holiday was formed all the way back in 1979 by W.T. Rabe as a response to the exact opposite – jogging. Thought to have originated on the porch of a hotel in the US, it asks that adherents walk around observing what is around them and taking their time processing their environment.

It provides an opportunity for us in the 21st century, living a lifestyle full of errands, essay long to-do lists and other goals, to take a chill pill and approach our commuting with a more mindful attitude.

Maltese filmmakers could get €100,000 to fund their short film

Filmmakers listen up! Have you always wanted to pursue a passion project but never had the funds to do so? Well, now filmmakers who have never received financial assistance or funding related to film production from any government entity have the opportunity to get right into it!

The ‘Malta Create’ Short Film Fund was announced at a workshop hosted by the Malta Film Commission (MFC) at MCAST. This fund was created in association with the Mediterrane Film Festival with the goal of assisting short film creation by providing a grant of €100,000. Additionally, it offers the awardees guidance and assistance in the sector.

The fund is a crucial program that not only supports the local film industry but also develops talent and offers budding filmmakers a strong basis. Malta film commissioner Johann Grech expressed his commitment towards supporting the development of talent and fostering chances for the future of Maltese cinema as the industry continues to develop.

The “Malta Create” Short Film Fund is significant, says Tourism Minister Clayton Bartolo, and goes beyond only helping the film business. It displays Malta’s passion to cultural development and artistic quality and shows the country’s commitment to fostering the creative arts. These elements are crucial to Malta’s booming tourism industry. The ‘Malta Create’ project invests in the youth by providing real-world learning experiences, encouraging creativity, and laying the foundation for success through its relationship with MCAST.

Family and business funds not for military ammunition, says MEP Cyrus Engerer

“I have today again voted against the majority of the European Parliament on the proposal that the funds we had allocated,voted and dedicated to families and businesses for their recovery and resilience following the pandemic, are now to be used to Manifacture military ammunition”, Engerer said at the end of the voting session of the European Parliament plenary in Brussels.

Engerer emphasised that while Ukraine has the right to defend itself and should be given support by the European Union, as has been happening from the beginning of the Russian illegal invasion, the funding programme that we had founded to aid recovery from the pandemic and the challenging times citizens experienced, must remain and not be changed to fund ammunition instead.

“Yes Ukraine does have a right to defend itself, but I can never agree that the funds for resilience and recovery that are so important to European and Maltese families and businesses end up being used for war arms instead”, Engerer stated.

Engerer concluded by saying that it is important that Ukraine wins back the land that has been invaded by Russia, but citizens have passed through three years of hardship and the European Parliament must be with them too at this difficult time.

Real Madrid ranked most valuable football club in 2023

According to Forbes, Real Madrid is the most valuable football club in 2023 for the second year in a row.

With a value of $6.07 billion, the club achieved a 19% increase in value when compared to last year. They were followed by Manchester United at $6B and Barcelona FC at $5.51B.

The top 5 were topped off by Liverpool FC at $5.29B and Manchester City at $4.99. That’s all fair when it comes to international clubs. But we wanted to know which club was the Maltese equivalent.

According to Transfer Markt, Ħamrun Spartans ranked as the top football club in the local Premier League, with a net worth of €4,47 Million as of May 15th 2023.

They were followed by Gżira Untied FC, with a value of €3,58M, Birkirkara FC at €3.36M, Hibernians FC at €3,53M and Floriana FC at €3,55M.
