Tisbit Returns With 5th & Biggest Edition Yet At Teatru Manoel

Tisbit, the much-loved percussion-focused concert presented by The Clef House, returns for its fifth edition on Friday 6th June 2025 at 8:00pm, this time taking to the stage at the prestigious Teatru Manoel in Valletta.

This marks the first time the event is being held in Malta, following four successful editions in Gozo.

Curated by artistic director Michael Camilleri, Tisbit has established itself as a platform where percussion students can showcase their talent while collaborating with both emerging and well-established artists from across the country.

This year’s edition is set to be the largest yet, featuring a record 40 performers on stage – a true celebration of rhythm, creativity, and collaboration.

Among the featured performers are Eliza Stellini, Elisa Buttigieg, Hannah, and Sarah Bonnici, supported by a talented live band. In true Tisbit style, the audience will also play an active part in the energy of the evening – with the concert designed to be an immersive, shared experience, rather than a one-way performance.

This special edition is being held with the support of the Valletta Cultural Agency, which continues to promote forward-thinking and inclusive artistic initiatives.

New App TM Roads Will Ease Roadwork Info For Everyone!

The Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works, Chris Bonett, has officially launched TM Roads, a digital platform designed to improve the coordination and transparency of administrative processes related to roadworks and infrastructure.

Previously, applying for infrastructure works involved a complex and bureaucratic process, often leading to poor coordination between the various entities involved.

TM Roads addresses these challenges by bringing all stakeholders together on a single platform, while also informing the public about upcoming works, permits, and related communication. This is expected to reduce disruptions and inconvenience for residents.

Developed in collaboration with the UK-based Transport Research Laboratory, the platform draws on international expertise and encourages a cultural shift in how mobility is approached and managed.

Minister Bonett described the initiative as a key part of the government’s wider Reshaping Our Mobility vision, highlighting the importance of moving from planning to real implementation.

He said the platform demonstrates the government’s commitment to providing practical solutions that meet public expectations.

Transport Malta CEO Kurt Farrugia added that TM Roads would enhance communication with the public, allowing individuals to register their interest and receive alerts about nearby roadworks, enabling better planning.

The platform aims to serve as a model of coordinated governance, reduce bureaucracy, and deliver more efficient services.

PN Propose New General Hospital For Gozo & More

Malta’s healthcare system is under significant strain, with growing demands stretching current infrastructure to its limits, the Nationalist Party said in a statement.

According to the PN, the current situation reflects a system that requires urgent attention and investment to meet the needs of a rising population.

During a recent press conference, Shadow Health Minister Adrian Delia, Shadow Minister for Social Policy Stephen Spiteri, and Shadow Minister for Primary Care and Mental Health Ian Vassallo voiced concern over increasing pressures at Mater Dei Hospital.

They cited figures showing a record 104,886 hospital admissions in 2024 — a 57% increase from 2008, when admissions stood at 66,742.

Over the same period, Malta’s population grew by approximately 140,000 people.

The PN representatives noted that this population growth has had a direct impact on health services, with reports of patients being treated in hospital corridors and other unsuitable areas due to space limitations.

According to the PN, the lack of long-term planning has contributed to the current situation, while previous promises — including a new mental health hospital and regional health centres — remain unfulfilled.

The PN also drew attention to non-operational facilities such as the Vincent Moran Centre and other partially closed health centres in Rabat and Floriana.

In Gozo, the timeline for a new hospital has reportedly been extended by another nine years.

In response, the PN outlined a series of healthcare proposals aimed at easing current pressures and modernising the system. These include:

Investment in St Luke’s Hospital to expand bed capacity
Fully operational health centres, with new hubs in both the north and south
A new general hospital for Gozo
Greater focus on primary care to reduce hospital overload
Responsible public-private partnerships
Improved access to essential medicines and modern equipment
Enhanced working conditions for medical professionals
Dedicated investment in mental health, including a new specialist facility
Free GP services for the elderly and pensioners
Wider availability of cancer medication through government channels
Expanded palliative care and walk-in cancer clinics
Investment in innovative treatment options

The PN stated that its healthcare proposals are rooted in a patient-first philosophy, calling for a more responsive and well-resourced public health system.

Malta National Football Team Brings The Game To Stella Maris Students

As part of the celebrations marking 125 years of Maltese football, the Malta National Football Team paid a special visit to Stella Maris Secondary School.

Head Coach Emilio De Leo, along with members of the technical staff and a selection of national team players, engaged with students through a friendly football match, autograph signing, casual conversations, and even presented trophies to winners of the school’s football tournament. ⚽🏆

The visit aimed to raise awareness about Malta’s upcoming international match against Lithuania.

Malta will face Lithuania in a 2026 FIFA World Cup European Qualifier on Saturday, June 7, 2025. The match will be played at the Ta’ Qali National Stadium in Malta.
