TikTok to launch ‘adult only’ options for users over 18

TikTok to launch ‘adult only’ options for users over 18
Oct 19 2022 Share

Popular social media app TikTok revealed that it will be setting up an adults-only option which will be restricted to those over the age of 18.

The app shared the news that it will also be pushing up the minimum age requirement from 16 to 18 if they wish to go live on the app.

This is a move aimed at shielding underage people from inappropriate content, with a statement by the platform saying that this will be a new way for creators to choose if they prefer to only reach an adult audience.

‘We want our community to make the most of the opportunities LIVE can bring without compromising safety. We believe these industry-leading updates can further protect the younger members.’

Users will, from now on, need to be over the age of 16 to send direct, private messages. As of yet, TikTokers with at least 1,000 followers older than 16 can livestream.

This will however change on November 23rd. Users over the age of 18 will be able to send virtual gifts or access monetisation features. Despite these restrictions, sexually explicit content will still be outright prohibited so TikTok won’t be going the OnlyFans route.

The Crown Season 5 is all ready for its November 9th premier on Netflix, and we just got our first look at Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana.

Imelda Staunton will be portraying the late monarch Queen Elizabeth II, and Dominic West  will be portraying the now King Charles III.

One of the captions of the new posts reads ‘A house divided’, hinting at some Internal conflict in the royal family. The Peter Morgan royal drama will be officially introducing older versions of key players as it has done for the past seasons.

The late monarch was previously portrayed by Claire Foy and Olivia Colman, all bringing a different but continuous iteration of the Queen.

This will be the preamble to the final season which is currently in production, rounding up the Queen’s story in the 21st century. The series’ release was pushed back due to the recent passing of Queen Elizabeth II, out of respect for the longest reigning British monarch.
