Tikka Banda, a dynamic musical ensemble known for giving traditional Maltese festa music a modern twist, brought festive cheer to City Gate in Valletta with their lively performance.

Sharing their excitement on Instagram, Tikka Banda announced, “Malta was missing something—a roaming Christmas band that delivers more than the usual carols. That’s why, in 2024, we launched The Jolly Hoppers by Tikka Banda!”

MFA President Bjorn Vassallo Takes Charge Of UEFA U19 And U17 Draws

Malta FA President Bjorn Vassallo presided over his first UEFA draws, overseeing the official UEFA U19 and U17 Championship draws as Chairman of the UEFA Youth and Amateur Football Committee.

Held at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, the draws included teams advancing to the elite stages of the 2025 finals and those competing in the 2026 qualifying rounds. Malta’s U19 and U17 teams participated in four draws held during the event.

During the ceremony, President Vassallo presented prestigious awards. Maurizio Viscidi, Technical Director of FIGC, received the Maurice Burlaz Trophy for Italy’s achievements in UEFA youth competitions.

Respect and Fair Play Awards went to Norway’s U19 player Aleksander Andersen and France’s U17 player Yael Thebault, while the Danish Football Federation was recognized with the Best Progression Award.

For the 2026 qualifiers, Malta’s U19 team was drawn alongside Czechia, Northern Ireland, and Azerbaijan, while the U17 team will face Serbia, Türkiye, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In addition to its iconic monuments, the square now boasts a towering, cheerful Christmas tree and a life-sized nativity scene, bringing the holiday spirit to life.

Man With Grievous Injuries After Falling 1 Storey In Naxxar

Today, at around 1145hrs, police were informed that their assistance was needed in a barn in Triq Burmarrad, Naxxar.

Investigations showed that a 39 year old man resident of Haz-Zabbar fell around one storey whilst he was working.

He was given medical aid on site and transported to Mater Dei Hospital for further care. He was later certified as having suffered grievous injuries.

invesitgations are still ongoing.
