Two Italians, aged 44 and 40 respectively, and an Albanian 40 year old, all allegedly part of an organised crime ring, were arrested with ties to drug trafficking.

Through intensive investigations by the Malta Police Force, the information was acquired that a drug transfer was about to take place in Malta.

From the early hours of Saturday morning, the police began observations on a vehicle which was being driven by a 44 year old Italian man.

After some time, the police surrounded the vehicle in St Paul’s Bay, and through a search in a bag, found ten packets of cocaine, amounting to around 10kg.

Police continued their searches simultaneously in Qormi, where the two others were arrested. From the investigations, it was found that the worth amounted to €1.3 million.

An inquiry has been opened as police investigations continue. The men are expected to be taken to court in the coming days as they await trial in the General Lock Up in Floriana.

Ronaldo Becomes 1st Person To Reach 600M Instagram Followers

Ronaldo Becomes 1st Person To Reach 600M Instagram Followers
Aug 14 2023 Share

Cristiano Ronaldo has achieved a remarkable milestone, becoming the first individual to amass 600 million followers on Instagram.

This football legend has become the most followed person on the social media platform, trailing only Instagram itself, which boasts 650 million followers.

Notably, Ronaldo significantly surpasses his real-world rival, Lionel Messi, who holds 482 million followers on Instagram.

While Messi’s picture of him with the Argentina national football team celebrating their 2022 FIFA World Cup victory holds the record for the most-liked photograph on the platform, both Messi and Ronaldo dominate the list of the top 10 most-liked posts on Instagram.

Their immense popularity is evident during key moments, such as Ronaldo’s announcement of twins or his relocation to Saudi Arabia. Even a minor setback, like losing three million followers in a day due to an Instagram outage, barely makes a dent in Ronaldo’s colossal follower count.

To put his Instagram following in perspective, if Ronaldo’s followers constituted a country, it would be the third most populous in the world, ranking just below China and India.

His Instagram followers even outnumber the entire population of the European Union. These two superstar athletes command unparalleled global attention and engagement through their online presence.
