Threads: The Instagram Rival To Twitter Coming This Week

Threads: The Instagram Rival To Twitter Coming This Week
Jul 5 2023 Share

Parent company to Facebook and Instagram, Meta, announced that it will be launching its rival app to Twitter, Thread, by Thursday 6th July.

The app is already available for pre—order on the Apple App Store and will be linked to Instagram, with screenshots showing a similar format to Twitter.

It is a “text based conversation app”, promising to bring communities ‘together to discuss everything from the topics you care about today to what’ll be trending tomorrow.’

The announcement of course yielded some jabs from Elon Musk, owner of Twitter, with him and Zuckerberg making headlines a few days ago about a potential cage match.

Twitter has just experienced some internal turmoil after going through an ‘outage’ over the weekend, with the app announcing that the site had imposed temporary limits on how many tweets users are able to read while using the app.

Would you be using Instagram’s ‘Threads’?

The NGO and local fashion designer repurposed a trawler net Zibel had collected in Comino over 4 missions during one of their various clean ups and eco-activism events in Malta.

The piece was made by a whole heap of trawling nets that would have otherwise been left to damage the sea bed of our islands, entrapping fish and polluting the seas around Malta’s islands.

Instead, the initiative made sure to promote sustainable fashion, showing that even these potential hazards could be turned into something beautiful and of no harm to local environments and biodiversity.
