Parent company to Facebook and Instagram, Meta, announced that it will be launching its rival app to Twitter, Thread, by Thursday 6th July.
The app is already available for pre—order on the Apple App Store and will be linked to Instagram, with screenshots showing a similar format to Twitter.
It is a “text based conversation app”, promising to bring communities ‘together to discuss everything from the topics you care about today to what’ll be trending tomorrow.’
The announcement of course yielded some jabs from Elon Musk, owner of Twitter, with him and Zuckerberg making headlines a few days ago about a potential cage match.
Twitter has just experienced some internal turmoil after going through an ‘outage’ over the weekend, with the app announcing that the site had imposed temporary limits on how many tweets users are able to read while using the app.
I’m sure Earth can’t wait to be exclusively under Zuck’s thumb with no other options.
At least it will be “sane”. Was worried there for a moment 😅.
