Third Flamingo Joins Birdlife’s Għadira Nature Reserve

Birdlife Malta shared footage of the third Greater Flamingo at the Għadira Nature Reserve.

The young bird was rescued by police and rehabilitated by BirdLife Malta after it was found weak from its migration.

The bird joins Fiona, the rehabilitated Flamingo rescued from an aviary, and another wild young flamingo that settled at the reserve.

On what would have been her 56th birthday, Nicky Sansone’s memory was paid tribute to by Sue Caruana and others who loved the LGBTIQ+ activist.

Taking to social media, Sue wrote that they ‘so hoped you would make this birthday but it wasn’t to be.’

‘I wonder if you’re celebrating in the clouds? If you are, have a blast! Thinking of you more today’.

Nicky had already celebrated her birthday after she was informed by doctors that she might not make it to celebrate it on August 24th.

She had met with loved ones and celebrated life, always urging people to enjoy life, live, love and smile.

This past weekend saw the Summer Carnival take to the streets of different localities in Malta, bringing floats, dance and colours for families and attendees.

The festivities kicked off on Friday 23rd August in Buġibba, returning to the locality the following day for more carnival fun. The three day spectacle will be concluding today, Sunday 25th August, in Marsaskala.

Organised by Festivals Malta in collaboration with local councils, the event aims to promote the artistic heritage of carnival.

The last day of events will kick off tonight at 8pm in Marsaskala, inviting anyone who is longing for some carnival atmosphere to attend.

Massive Dead Tuna Surfaces In Sliema Bay

A video sent to MaltaDaily shows what seems to be a massive dead tuna that floated towards the shore in Sliema yesterday this past weekend.

The dead fish attracted some attention from passers-by, with some taking photos of the large fish.

It is unclear whether the carcass was removed and, if so, who addressed the situation.
