After the semi-finals of XFactor Malta, the finalists have been chosen – Cheryl Balzan, Drakard, Lisa Gauci and Ryan Hili.

Timea Farr and Ceci & Kriss were the contestants eliminated. The sister duo and Farr all gave their best performances, but the public had to vote and that meant the three contestants had to go home.

Timea absolutely owned the stage with a deep and mature voice for every night, showing her absolute versatility in sing-off after sing-off, even taking on Adele’s Easy On Me during the semi-final.

Ceci & Kriss brought an intriguing skill to the XFactor stage, becoming an absolute crowd favourite. Their approach to various songs, from local hits to world-renowned tracks, Ceci & Kriss were a force to be reckoned with.

Alas, their elimination meant that Lisa, Drakard, Ryan and Cheryl will be going on to the final night. Lisa will be representing Ivan Grech’s ‘Girls’ category, whereas Ryan and Drakard will be representing Howard Keith’s ‘Boys’.

Cheryl will be representing Ira Losco’s ‘Overs’ category, meaning that Philippa Naudi has no competitors taking on the final. All contestants remaining are absolute power-houses in their own right, and they will be competing for the title of X-Factor Malta next Saturday.

Senegal have won their first ever African Cup of Nations, beating North African country Egypt on penalties. The match was built up as a battle between the two Liverpool stars Sadio Mane and Mohammed Salah, with both players starring for their respective countries. Senegal were the runners up in the last African Cup of Nations, losing out to Algeria in the final.

The match was very tight as both teams couldn’t score in the 120 minutes available. Egypt keeper Gabaski  was awarded the man of the match for keeping his country in the game, saving various Senegalese chances including an early penalty from Sadio Mane.

The whole match was dominated by Senegal. Their quick and tricky attack including wingers Sadio Mane and Ismaïla Sarr and their strong defense including captain Salidou Koulibaly and Chelsea keeper Edouard Mendy helped them take control of every aspect of the match.

Egypt star Mohammed Salah tried with all his efforts to influence the game but he didn’t do enough to hurt the Senegalese defense. All the clear cut chances of the game were Senegal’s, including a missed penalty in the 7th minute of the game. The match couldn’t be decided even after extra time, so penalties were needed.

The penalties ended 4-2 in favour to Senegal with Sadio Mane this time scoring the decisive penalty. Usual Egypt and Liverpool penalty taker Mohammed Salah didn’t get a chance to take a penalty as he was waiting for the 5th and usually most important penalty.
