It’s officially 50 days until Christmas!

From the carols to the massive dinners, or the family reunions and gift exchanges, Christmas is for many people a time of family, recollection and joy.

And while everyone will be celebrating differently, the anticipation for the holidays will already be racking up.

Some even dare to start decorating as early as just after Halloween. How early (or late) is it to decorate anyway?

During Coldplay’s recent concert in Melbourne, frontman Chris Martin experienced a dramatic on-stage fault when he accidentally fell through a trap door.

The incident occurred as he was walking backward while interacting with fans and reading their signs. Fans gasped as Martin suddenly vanished through the floor, but he quickly reassured them.

Fortunately, he wasn’t injured and soon resumed performing, much to the crowd’s relief and amusement.

Guess he took the title of his song ‘Fall of Man’ a bit too seriously.

Church Updates Safeguarding Policy for Minors and Vulnerable Adults

Church Updates Safeguarding Policy for Minors and Vulnerable Adults

The Church in Malta and Gozo has launched a revised Safeguarding Policy to elevate standards for the protection of minors and vulnerable adults. This updated policy, signed by Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna, Gozo Bishop Anton Teuma, and religious leaders, sets out new structures and codes of conduct, prioritising the welfare of alleged victims during investigations.

Significant updates include impartial investigations and risk assessments, strengthened recruitment processes, and a comprehensive code of conduct to guide Church personnel on appropriate behaviour, both online and offline. The policy, which replaces the original 2015 version, widens its focus to include emotional, spiritual, and physical harm, aiming to create a safer and more inclusive environment.

Mark Pellicano, Head of Safeguarding, highlighted the policy as a product of consultations with victims, experts, and regulatory bodies. He emphasised that “responsibility, accountability, transparency, and integrity” form the core of this policy, which is intended to evolve as safeguarding practices advance.

“The journey to a safer Church is ongoing,” Pellicano noted, committing to regular reviews to adapt to developments in safeguarding needs.

Bernard Grech Announces PN Vision To Govern Malta

Bernard Grech Announces PN Vision To Govern Malta

In his Budget 2025 response, Opposition Leader Bernard Grech presented the Partit Nazzjonalista’s (PN) vision for a different approach to governance.

Grech criticised the current government’s lack of direction, claiming it has become disconnected from the people and reliant on propaganda rather than a sustainable vision.

He argued that the Labour administration’s policies fail to address the real needs of the nation, describing this year’s budget as a reflection of a government that has “lost all control.”

Grech outlined the PN’s commitment to governing for the people rather than for political gain.

He promised a transparent and proactive administration, emphasising that a Nationalist government would prioritise challenges and seize opportunities to build a better future for Malta.

According to Grech, the PN’s vision is for a “quality country” shaped by the hard work and talent of the Maltese people.

Highlighting the PN’s consultative approach, Grech noted the party’s continuous engagement with various organisations and citizens across all sectors.

This groundwork aims to inform a manifesto tailored to the people’s needs, promising Maltese citizens that a PN government would deliver tangible improvements and foster a prosperous, united nation.
